This is the week of Bacon Fest here in Sacramento where different establishments make special dishes or some old favorites done right. The local cidery I frequent is going to have woodfired pizzas based on bacon which should fun. Scott hadn't decided on the exact recipes when I talked to him last week but he does a good job. His thin crusts are great.

Dude from Staind or whatever walks off the stage in a performance near my hometown because he thought the crowd was too loud. Ha!

I've been cooking from a great cookbook recently and this week decided to make a recipe that called for mushrooms in the ingredients list. Once I had assembled everything, I realised that the recipe had no mushrooms in it, so I made it without. I emailed the book's creator out of interest, and they within minutes sent me back an email saying they were sorry and they would investigate. What followed was something akin to the Monty Python "dirty fork" sketch - they emailed me back the investigation trail, where the publisher, the author of the recipe, the marketing people all talked to each other with the recipe woman horrified and saying that she had proofread the book and sent it out to two other proof readers and they would make sure they rectified it for future copies, how could I be compensated etc.
It was just some missing bloody mushrooms!
(I'm pretty sure I noticed some other randomly missing ingredients in other recipes but I don't think I'll tell them.)

Free home mushroom delivery for life!

or maybe just a shoutout in the next cookbook?
Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

1. I got the raise I asked for a couple of weeks ago.

2. B's 97 year old father is moving in with us on Monday.

Guess which one I'm more excited about?
If you've got nothing to do, don't do it here.

Is he going to join your band or hockey team? ;) :)

Congrats on the raise. That is always welcome.
