A nice white band replacing a black singer.....

Maybe so, but then Thriller overtook it.

This is new info, Charlie.

Yeah, I've seen it a few other places since you posted it.

New info, same old cosmic injustice.

Been awake for 24 hours.

I think the 90s Cup is to blame.

I am just back from my mothers funeral. It all went off very well, and my sisters all excelled themselves in making it an emotional , but positive day. I saw family, friends and relations I haven't seen for years, and they were all wonderful. Even enduring an hour and a half of a requiem mass wasn't too arduous. The priest was a close friend of my mothers, and he was clearly very fond of her, giving us an insight into he passion for the church and everything around it. I am very glad she found a place she could be at peace with her church again. I have meetings with auctioneers and valuers later in the week, but this whole affair finally feels like it is winding up at last.

In other news, my mother in law seems to be deteriorating rather faster than we anticipated. Bid rang her on Monday, and talked to her for a full half hour, but there was no recognition of who she was. She was using her best Hyacinth Bucket voice, and was clearly bluffing when asked any details on any subject. Which is a bit depressing. We are going over at the end of the month, and our expectations are very low indeed. Hopefully she will have a better chance of knowing who we are if she sees us. If it is still no good, we will have to rethink our visiting routines, and maybe increase how often we go over. It is very difficult to know what to do for the best. At least her physical health remains robust, and she seems to be thriving in the home.

That's good to hear, Yomp (about your mother's affairs, not so much about your M.I.L)

On a similar note, I just received my half of the proceeds from the sale of my mom's house. My mother insisted that my sister and I split it, but my sister and I have both agreed not to spend any in case my mom needs it somewhere down the road. She's living with my sister now, but there's no guarantee that she won't require long-term care eventually. I'm going to my bank after work today to deposit it and to figure out the best way to keep it so that it can earn a bit of interest.

All the best Michael. Did I understand correctly that you also were in the process of moving house yourself?

It was very cheap prosecco Les, mixed with a Scottish rhubarb and ginger liqueur :)

I got into my car this morning and my CD holder in the console had been rifled through. They took a Pretty Things compilation, a KISS compilation, Lund Bros, Tangents, and Todd Snider's East Nashville Skyline.

They left Paul Kelly and the Messengers.

That sucks. Last time my car was broken into they left every single CD. It was like the criminal version of:

B
Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

You can probably tell the cops to disregard any Australian suspects then.

Shame to hear that.

It's my son's 16th birthday on Sunday. He was born in 2002 and I joined BCB in 2004 so I've been trying to amuse BCB with various Derek dumbassisms, witticisms, and all around hoo hahs since I'v been on here.

He's the total opposite of my daughter who likes the whole month of February devoted to the celebration of her birthday.

My son is inviting some friends over to swim in my apartment complex's pool, we're getting some pizza delivered and that's about it. He did want a pinata, but I think that's more so they can beat the shit out of something with a plastic baseball bat and get a reward of candy instead of an assault conviction vs. celebrating the day of his birth.

Thought I'd go along to my local auction as they'd got in lots of 20s Dutch Gouda ( refers to ceramics rather than cheese!) and I'd sold one for a very decent price to someone in Hollywood just a few weeks ago. But all the usual dealers were out in force, my hopes Friday's would be quieter were in vain. I kept getting outbid on the Gouda by some cunt who was hiding round the corner and had the annoying habit of putting in his bid just as the hammer was about to fall on my successful bid. In the end I made the schoolboy error of getting competitive with him and outbidding him on one lot and consequently paying too much. :x

Still I came home to four sales so that made me feel better.
