I'm helping to plan our CEO's retirement and the management team is going to Vegas in two weeks for the weekend. The cheapest rat pack imitators act I could find was $7,500.

I hooked up with a friend through a random search on Twitter. I've known him since kindergarten. He's now the Far East bureau chief for Bloomberg news, stationed in Hanoi.

He lived right across the street from our elementary school and I went over there after school a lot to play with him and a couple friends before heading home. His dad owned his own plumbing business and you'd see his truck all over town - Boudreau Plumbing. I think my friend's little brother, a pretty good athlete, took over the business.

He and I started out in journalism, but I veered off into marketing. He went to the Univ. of Missouri journalism school and was a writer for the San Jose Mercury for years until Knight-Ridder started laying off people. We lost track about then - probably 20 years now.

I'm glad he's kept at it and seems to be leading an interesting life. He's a good guy.

I subscribed to the Sunday NY Times, mainly for the book review section. In high school and college, my aunt in New Jersey used to send it to me each week.

I can’t imagine what the owners are going through.

Oh man, that's just heartbreaking, Min.

I drove B to the airport this morning to catch an 8am flight to Calgary, and from there she's got a two hour bus ride to Banff where she's been accepted to the writer's workshop. She'll be there for the next five weeks. :(

I just learned a new slang word! I'd never heard that before.

So sorry to hear Anna's story, that's so heartbreaking.

That writers' workshop sounds interesting.

I hope her first book isn't a memoir about living with a photographer who takes photos of book cases, and plays hockey and bass on the side. But if she wants to interview me on the "online" version of this "person," I'd be more than happy to supply the unvarnished truth.

I pick up a friend of my son's most every day and take him to school with my son. He was really tired and I asked him why. He said he'd been playing XBox until midnight playing Foresight. I joked around, saying that was a good short-term goal, but a better long-term goal might be getting a good night's rest and getting a high school diploma so he could go to college.

His response: "I'm here for a good time, not a long time."

I responded, "Big Sean, really? That's your role model?"

Lost $40 in a grocery store parking lot on Sunday. Today while pumping gas an older black gentleman returned my cash.

The story he gave me quite honestly seemed like B.S. - mostly I got the feeling that he initially intended to keep the money, then happened to see the idiot who lost it a couple days later and decided to take pity.
