Thanks, it went well enough, I answered all the questions without getting stuck. One in four chance of getting it. So I'm quarterly confident of getting it.

Looking to get myself one of these bad boys.

Parents wouldn't get me one as a kid, as we couldn't afford it. 30 games built in, with all the classics. Only about 70 euro. Bargain!

Things are getting weird here at work. They recently hired a guy they've titled "Vice President of Marketing and Customer Experience" who came from a marketing firm who we had contracted to help, well, market the company. Yesterday, my immediate supervisor, the guy who takes the images I produce, the specialists' descriptions and estimates and puts them all together in catalogue form, was fired without warning and replaced TODAY by a girl who was headhunted through the aforementioned VP's old firm. To say that I am now accutely aware of how tenuous my seemingly once-solid position here is, is a massive understatement. I think I'd better keep an eye peeled for other types of employment, and try to head this train off at the pass.
Of course, I could be creating doomsday scenarios out of thin air and ultimately have nothing to worry about, the fact remains that I really dislike the new VP guy, and any time we have any sort of interaction my back gets up and I tend to respond to any of his questions as curtly as possible. According to the general manager of the company, this new VP is basically "in charge of everything now". So, in addition to looking out for future prospects, I figure I'd better just keep my head down and play the lackey as best I can.

I would definitely be looking. From going through a few of these upheavals, it would be my opinion that your job is under the radar compared to the woman you just mentioned who's organizing a catalog. The only fear in your position is if they would outsource your job, but you could still get it back in a contract or free lance position.

That's good. You live to run another day. I'm shocked at grown adults or maybe I should say adults who get in fist fights. I haven't hit someone since I was twelve years old. I'm glad you chose the nonviolent approach even though it might have been tempting to hurt him. I'd hate to see you lose your ability to foster children because of a Neanderthal. Maybe it wouldn't happen but that can't be a good thing in your situation.

It wouldn't have seen very positively if I'd got involved while the wee guy was with me.

Unless you decked him and did a little dance over the guy.

I'm basically a full-time contractor, and have been for the past three years. I'm not on the payroll here.

Yes, sorry for the situation you're in John. Ot wouldn't hurt to get tge old C.V. a once over or start sniffing around for a prospect. Any possibilities of you doing the reverse? Going from your company to one that serves your company? Or as someone suggested, leave with the understanding you would return as per diem, contract or whatever they call it in Toronto.

This morning I changed the ribbon on an antique L.C. Smith & Bros. typewriter that I purchased a few weeks ago. Works great (though I still need to clean it):

Just got offered a job that is the same money, better hours but has nothing to do with what I've been doing for the past 3 years. They need a response asap, problem is I'm waiting to hear back about a job that is a promotion from my current job, better money but the hours aren't so great. I won't hear about this job until next week. Catch 22 muthafuckas.

Congrats Markus.

On this side of the pond, they're selling a limited number of $100 lottery (scratch) tickets for a draw on March 30, odds of winning $1mln are 1:25,000. Those are very good odds compared to the run of the mill draws in which the odds are 1:15,000,000 or so, depending on which one you choose. I bought one last night, on a whim. Scratched it and won a free ticket. Scratched the free ticket and won.....another free ticket which I haven't redeemed yet.

So my odds of winning a million are now at 1:8,333 or more. Woohoo.
