That's great. And well deserved.

You mean like the cost of living?

I'm sure that's why the extra money. Similar professional jobs in the Bay Area pay approximately half everywhere else.

My brother must be going through old photos. He sent this one of me and him at the beach covered up to our necks in the sand. I'm on the right.

We both did.

I'm adopted and I have all my hair at 56. Like my dad, my brother lost his in his late '20s.

Applied for Teacher Training this week with a view to starting in autumn 2018. Luckily the rules have changed and my local school (which is rated outstanding) is the only one in Kent hosting the qualification training. I also know the deputy head well.

Which is nice.

It's a weekend of intense conversations and soul-searching at Stately Machuki Manor this weekend.

I turned it down. Cross-country move plus increased cost of living plus total loss of my wife's income...it just couldn't work. I hope I don't spend the rest of my life kicking myself over it.
What's more, the campaign was for a musical theater outfit - if it had been Seattle Symphony I might have tried a little harder to justify the change.
You guys were right about cost of living, and the climate, too - with Isabella having been unwell I'm not sure I want to move her to the dampest place in the USA.
The whole thing has been exhausting and overwhelming.

Don't regret your decision, it was made with love in mind.

I'm a person that goes with instincts, with a little logic and reason mixed in. If it doesn't feel right and requires more work than you think the potential benefits you might get, then it's probably right.

I also have a tendency to not regret my decisions even if I feel that I goofed. There's too much crap in front of me to worry about stuff behind me.

Moving a family is a big deal.

Meanwhile, our purchase of the 600 year-old house is off. Survey says "nuh-huh".

Rayge and I are strangely sanguine about it :? I don't get why I'm not bothered about it.* The only negative I'm feeling is irritation at coughing up for a survey on a house we're not buying. But that's the price of house-hunting I guess.

*Edit: Maybe because there are lots of period houses around here and I didn't fancy moving in mid-winter?

As I know you know, it's way cheaper to find out the problems now than after you've bought the house. Money well spent.
