Re: MORE random stuff about your day
Thanks all. To be honest I'm sort of relieved that it didn't happen during my holiday and I'd have to cut that short. It sounds brutal, but I've been looking forward to this vacation for an age and have been caring for him whilst studying - I really needed a break of some sort.
I wasn't that close to my Dad. He was already old when I was born (45) and was more of a grandfather - I think the relationship with my brother was paternal in many ways and certainly closer to what I have with my son. He was my Dad and there are things in my life I can attribute to him, like my love of history and books, but I don't want the relationship I had with him for me and my son - in fact I want something much closer and more emotional. I'm detached about it all really - now both of them have gone, I can really say that my parents were loving in many ways and brought me up well, but I never had any real close emotional attachment to either of them.

Re: MORE random stuff about your day
I have just heard that my mum passed away this afternoon. Quietly in her sleep. All a bit confused at the moment, but I know she will at last be at peace. Thanks everyone for your support whilst I have been negotiating this difficult time. It has been a great help and comfort.

Kindest thoughts to you all.

Nonsense to the aggressiveness, I've seen more aggression on the my little pony message board......I mean I was told.

So sorry to hear this Michael. It's never easy, even when it's not a surprise.

Oh, Yomp. So sorry, man.
Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

There's an awful lot to be said for that. Take care, Yompy.

Sorry to hear that Michael. Take care my friend. THoughts are with you.
Having been through this with both parents I can only say that yes it is a wretched time, but (I can only speak for myself here) tempered with some small sense of relief/closure when thinking about how the future could have played out.

Sorry to hear that yomp, my best wishes are with you and yours.
It's been a bastard of a year for parents of BCB-ers this year so far, if any of you are lucky enough to have parents left, take care of them. I'm just off to cover my mum in bubble-wrap.

Very very tough time for you and yours Michael - there's really very little anyone can say to help, but I do remember how comforting it was just knowing people cared.
Peace to your Mum and deepest condolences to you all.
