The article is pretty accurate but I'm disappointed that they ignored Harbor Winery. As far as drinkability, pretty accurate. As I said in the other post, pancake syrup sweet and not very complex. It's California wine history though so tha's why I bought those two bottles I have. I haven't tasted a Mission wine in almost thirty years so that tells you how much I drink the stuff.
I've never tasted a dry version and the article didn't stir up enough interest for me to bother. I have a few bottles of whiskey that spent some time in the barrels that had that 1986 Mission Grape wine in it. It's only a 7 YO whiskey and I can taste the influence of the wine so I guess it is was a success.
