Idealism I suppose is like faith or hope. Potentially useless and also potentially powerful.

Realism can be just as blinkered, as adherents presume too much and assume they know what's real.

Selfish-bastardism is a consequence of personality and often, although not always, of wealth, relative or otherwise.

My own opinions as to what I am generally decrease over time so that now, I'll go with Socrates, and say, in general, I haven't a bastard clue about anything.
Oh well, what the feck.

depends if it's realistic to achieve the ideals.

Those who just ignore realism and are blinkered to any actual real world evidence are just wasting their time.

I think that's just the same as Topcat G said but backwards.
