Authors, sport, landlocked states
Capitals of Europe and their size
Breeds of dog, famous dates
Kind of hoping these things don’t arise

No idea about question 1 - 30-odd?, but as for

How about: how many countries are there that are landlocked by countries that are themselves landlocked?

No idea how many landlocked countries. There are lots in Asia and Africa I think. 80?

But if we're talking outside Africa and Eurasia there's not many. All the North/Central American and Caribbean countries have coasts. Australasia is just islands.

So in South America? Chile and Argentina make up most of the coast in the southern half. Peru has a lot of coast, Brazil too. And Uruguay is on the estuary there isn't it? Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, French Guinea have coasts on the north.

So what - Ecuador, Bolivia, Paraguay? Three?

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

Lichtenstein is one, between Austria and Switzerland. There may be a couple of others in central Asia, especially if you don't count the Caspian Sea

Ecuador has a Pacific coastline, that's why they have sovereignty over the Galapagos.
