It will be interesting to see what sort of upheaval is created by her death. It would be foolish I think that there won't be anything. Britain is set for an intriguing few years.

In what sense, like a return to autocratic monarchy?

'London Bridge is down' is the top secret operation codeword that nobody knows about.

The far Right will be secretly delighted when she croaks because it'll give them a degree of publicity as they rattle sabres and incite ugly Nationalist feelings in the face of the inevitable calls for a republic.

Yep. "How can you spout those anti-British, republican views when our dear Queen has just passed over to join the Lord?"
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
I assume this is one of Gash's 'jests'

I read that story in the papers about the plans for her death. Extraordinary.

No of course not, don't be ridiculous. Not in a constitutional sense. But I think that the Queen's death will affect a lot of people in this country. She's been part of the wallpaper for so long. The same happened with Queen Victoria's death in 1901, which came at a time when the British Empire was experiencing a lot of problems abroad (Mafeking, Jameson Raid etc).

Lord grant that Marshal Wade

May by thy mighty aid

Victory bring.

May he sedition hush,

And like a torrent rush,

Rebellious Scots to crush.

God save the King!
