Well done Quix! I really enjoyed reading about your life. Your mum sounds like a very strong and brave woman, making the choices she needed to make to improve the life of her and her children. It's hard for me to imagine leaving home at 16 to make a go at the world. I'm always impressed by those who did and made it work. Bravo for a well written and more importantly an interesting story you weaved.

Fantastic story to read- I have a lot of respect for your mother, making a tough decision like that- that pic of the three of you is gorgeous!
Battled through a lot and yet the tenure of most of the songs chosen is quite upbeat and hypnotic, evocative and cool. Loved the classical bits!
Anyway, thank you very much!

siigh. that was wonderful. i absolutely love the story of yer ma. what a gutsy, independent, intelligent, beautiful, passionate, life-loving person. (funny, how that seems to remind me of someone else in yer family. ahem. i see you were willowy even as child.)
i love the music as well. that marvin track is one of my essentials. i love the sound of it so much, it really feels almost like a lullabye whenever i hear it. primo picks all around. the stevie, beach boys, beatles, and tchaikovksy in particular could easily be on my island.
my ma was a strong person, too. i still think about her everyday. i say we raise a glass to strong mas. and strong sisters... although my sis never could dance worth a crap, unless ya count doing the heimlich manuever on an invisible person as "dancing"...

ok... I'll have a look for it on my computer and see of I still have it.
actually shortly after posting this my mother's life took a terrible turn and somehow I found it too distressing to have her back life on public show..
but I'm feeling a little calmer again now so I'll see if I can dig it up...
