My condolences, Shawn. Dealing with the loss of a parent is one of the toughest things in life.

Keep in mind that the sorrow and loss eventually lessens with time. Good luck to you and your family.

Shawn,

My sincere condoleances for the loss of your mother. I hope being able to be with her when she passed away will give you some closure- I was able to do the same when my father died and that experience, difficult as it was, was probably the best scenario my family could have had under the circumstances.
It won't feel like it now but it will in the longer run.

All the best.

Alzheimers may well be the most emotionally devestating disease of them all.
Remember the good times. I'm sure she would've wanted you to do that.
Sincere condolenses,

Thanks all, this very nice to read through and get the tears flowing again. It's very much appreciated.

It's weird and wonderful having all the family around and all the free food from friends and relatives and neighbours. People just show up at my dads door with huge bowls of salad, 40 bread rolls and three cooked chickens. Or vats of seafood chowder. He should give them my address.

The songs I have going through my head are; The Staple Singers - Will The Circle Be Unbroken and If I Could Hear My Mother Pray Again, The Smiths - Cemetery Gates, John Lennon- My Mummy's Dead. Among others.

R.I.P. Bernice "Bunny" Duggan, my mother, one of the greats.

I'll now return to my regular posting of misinformed inanities.
