A Tribute to Tom Kennedy
These are some of the cars Tom built. Modified, rather, I guess.
Here's Tom as John McCain with me on security detail:
Tom built these cars (and others on commission) and did political activism in San Francisco and the Burning Man community. He was the last person I'd have expected to die in a drowning accident yesterday. He was always looking out for others' safety, always the rock.
His passing is going to leave a big hole in a lot of peoples' lives.

Obviousy I don't know the guy (though I'd love what he did judging by the pictures above), but I can see how how his death has clearly affected you Snarfy, so you have my deepest sympathies for your loss.

Yes, that's him.
He also built this whale that "breathed" fire through its blow hole. It took two people (in different parts of the thing and communicating by walkie-talkie) to drive: one to steer and one to work the gas & brakes.

Thanks for the condolences. We're all concerned for his wife, who moved from NYC to the Bay area to be with Tom only a few years ago. She was inconsolable after her cat died.

That's sad, Chris. It's tough enough to lose a vibrant, vital guy like that, but losing him suddenly in an unforeseen accident makes it somehow worse.
My condolences to his friends and his wife. How is she taking it?

You'd pay big bucks to know what you really think.

I'm just out on the West Coast now, taking part in a series of memorials. Honestly, I had no idea how much of a lynch pin Tom was in such a big community. The giant enormo public event was last night. Unbelievable tributes.
His wife is... processing, I guess you'd call it. Because it is a process and it's going to take a while.
Thanks for asking. Here with the family. Colossal bummer. Video footage is pouring in and being tearily consumed.
