Phil (RKJ Gumbleputty) and Ruth

Postby Billy » 16 Mar 2008, 01:45

I shall keep this short and sweet as I'm terribly upset about this. I had a message from Phil earlier this evening.

Ruth, my darling wife of almost 28 years passed away at about 15 mins past midnight this morning, in Nottingham City Hospital. The disease was advanced and also faster growing than the docs anticipated but the chemo had no effect on the liver mets. She never had any pain throughout and just slipped peacefully away. She would have been 53, two weeks today. A younger looking and fit 52 yr old she was, until the end of last year.

Please keep Phil and his family in your thoughts. He has been incredibly brave and positive over the last few weeks and I'm hoping that his strength of character will continue to help him at this difficult time ...

I am so, so sorry to read this. These kinds of things shouldn't happen to good people.

Phil - No words can make things better but I hope they offer some consolation. Stay strong for your kids. I hope they stay strong for you.

That's heartbreaking. I don't know what to say. I read that with my wife and family around me while having sunday morning breakfast and just can't imagine the how Phil must feel right now. My thoughts go out to him and his family.

Phil, you, your kids, relatives and friends all have my immense sympathy. Do your best to remember the great times you had together.

I can only reiterate the words of others on here Phil, but would ask you to consider the fabulous 28 years you have had together. In this day and age, that's extremely rare - cherish those times and focus on the good things, mate.

Phil, I can't remember if you have any other children, but whenever you have mentioned your daughter in posts, it was apparent that love, pride and joy shone through with every word. I guess I'm saying I know how much family means to you. I know you must be devastated right now, but as others have said, remember the good times and stay strong. Thoughts are with you.

Phil, I'm really so sorry to hear about this. I can only imagine how you're feeling. It's very hard to know what to say here, but as others have said, we'll all be thinking of you.

Andrew.
