I've just read this after 2 months without my computer. This is terrible news. Stu was a good guy. My thoughts go to his wife.

Is it strange to say that I appreciate that his wife let one of us know? I mean, we can't be one of the main things on her mind. It was nice to have her include us so that we might eulogize him in our way.

Our loss. Sleep well, friend.

Posted briefly on the other thread last night & this is just sinking in.
Met Stu a few times, the last time being at Pauls 50th last year.
Really nice guy, knowleadgable{?}, funny & great company.
My thoughts are with his family & I, too would like to thank his wife for letting us know.

RIP Stu - one of lifes nice guys.

Life's just so cruel.

The last thing Stu contacted me about was some ELO stuff, so I've cracked open a can of beer and I'm listening to 'Mr Blue Sky'.

Cheers, Stu.

When's the funeral, and is anyone planning to attend it?

I asked Sam this earlier on. I think she may be in contact with Caroline, his wife. I suggested we ought to, at least, get a card and flowers? Sam said she was hoping to attend the funeral and be our ambassador. I'm sure she'll let us know - but let's give her some time too. It took some fucking balls to take that call and post what she did on here, I'm sure we'd agree.

I don't mean this disrespectfully at all, but Caroline's comment to Sam that (and I paraphrase) "Were we (Sam) from the record company/shop?" is just so beautiful, and damned funny. A little light on a very grey day.....

I've asked Caroline if she could let me know, I'd like to attend.

If it's close to next weekend then I'll consider going, too, to represent all of us.

Maybe a card and some flowers to his address?
Im happy to share the cost, or whip round at the next jolly.
That would be a "softly-softly" approach.

I think this is an excellent idea - count me in.

Coming out of exile to just say how upsetting this is. I never met Stu, but exchanged many a PM and disc with him. I'm sure he was a lovely bloke and will be much missed, not least by us.

The quickest thing to do would probably for someone to buy some flowers and invite contributions via PayPal or the Jolly up?

Would you be happy doing it Sam? Sorry to be insensitive, but have we missed the funeral? He has been away for a while.

Can I suggest a nice bunch of flowers, a card and whatever's left give to a charity in Stu's memory, of Stu's wifes choice? If we've missed the funeral, then just the donation and card.

It's not happened yet.

How does it work? Do I post the email address and password it's under?

Just now read this and am very saddened. In my case, I never had direct contact with Stu but did notice his posts. The only hope is that there is beautiful music wherever he has gone.

Maybe we should instill a memoriam section or at least have something in a permanent section (Classic threads?).

So long Stu. My thoughts are with your family.
