Rory Bellows 5 Aug 1963 - 12 Mar 2016
Folks,
It's with a really heavy heart that I need to let you know that our good mate Bob (Rory Bellows) passed away peacefully this morning at the hospice that were taking fantastic care of him over the past week or so.
He was diagnosed with a brain tumour almost exactly a year ago and fought it as hard as he could with all that his doctors could throw at it and with his own inherently high health and fitness levels. But it was the most aggressive and unforgiving type and eventually returned at the end of last year and really took a grip causing a rapid decline from mid Feb onwards.
Bob faced the last year as he faced every year of his life prior to that, in a positive fashion, with a smile on his face and his prime concern for those around him rather than for himself. It's been a real relentless year for himself, Gillian & the four girls and his close friends. My thoughts are with them first and foremost. How they've held it together beggars belief.
He has a real fondness for the folks on here and was always grateful for the friendship, camaraderie and of course the discussion on music he loved and also the help he had discovering new stuff. He loved also that he met some of you personally when travels with work allowed.
On a personal level, he's been a fantastic friend and support to me for as long as I can remember. He was the coolest kid on our street when we grew up and that never ever changed. I haven't even begun to process what life will be like without him.
Please put Gillian and the girls in your thoughts, support cancer research organisations go watch some Bill Hicks or listen to some UK Subs or Beefheart.
Raise a glass whenever appropriate to genuinely / possibly the best good guy.
Hopefully catch up with some of you soon.
Ian.

Oh. I am so very, very saddened. How brave he was and what a loss he will be. My thoughts with you and with his family. Off to play the Beefheart right now.

Charlie Harper is having a piss in Bob's honour. Bob was a great guy, nothing more nothing less. If you knew him you know that. If you didn't know him then take it from me.
I saw him last year after his operation, side of his head like Frankenstein's monster. Self pitying not a bit of it. All concerned about how I was getting on with Big Ten Toes who came with me. How was I doing? Himself, I'm fine.
My thoughts are with Bob's family and of course his pal, Ian (Johnny) xx

Very sad news
The same thing happened to my best friend Scott 15 years ago, you think they are on top of it and it comes back with a vengeance and it overwhelms them in a few short weeks.
Rory was great to read on here and it is sad to think that that pick of Crusty won't be popping up anymore; my condolences to his family and friends, he was far to young to leave the party

So sad.
What a nice guy.
I have him to thank for a couple of practically unlistenable collections of what we might loosely call music that he introduced me to.
RIP dude.

Oh god how dreadful. I didn't know him as our musical tastes I think were pretty opposite, but he came across as a genuinely nice guy on the board.

All too cruel.
Thanks for keeping us up to date Ian. It seems the people around us are just falling over, and I don't suppose that is going to change.
RIP Rory.

I had a vague feeling it was not gonna end well....and in a way I'm glad it did as peaceful as it did.
Send the family all our best wishes. Devastated for their (and our) loss. And thank you Ian for being a wonderful liaison.
Rest well Bob.

I am so sorry to hear this. Bob helped me out early on, in the MOJO days, finding a few semi-obscure (in the US anyway) bands that I wanted info about. He was a really nice guy, and I've never forgotten his kindness... I'll miss him.

RIP, sir. Never met him, but from the tributes here I can tell he was a good guy and very special. I really wish the reaper would take a fucking break for a change. This has been a truly awful year as that goes.
Sympathies to all who knew him. And cheers to him for making the most of it. And fuck cancer. Again.
And thanks Johnny for keeping us informed. And sorry to you for your loss as well.
