Re: elizabeth erin, the beezle
why thank y'all very much. ::smacksmack::
attila and i are having an elizabethan moviethon, but i'm gonna get this up now. ye know what's ahead. there may be a few new pics in here, but hell if i really know, mwhaha.
the facebook roll...
the day rolls round again. (and the days just keep spinning faster, don't they?) happy birthday to my daughter, elizabeth erin the beezle, on this, what would've been her 33rd birthday.
y'all know how this works. today is the day to celebrate all things elizabethan, the sweetness, talent and beauty of my beezle, and the gratitude i feel for having had her lovely self in my life. it's not the number of years you get with beluvveds that count; it's having had them in yer life at all, for however long, that makes you truly blessed.
so go forth and spread the spirit. love on yer beluvveds while ya can. do it now. today. let them know how much they mean to you. for those who've gone, hear them telling you how to live, hear their voices everyday like chimes outside yer window. life is indeed short, folk. carpe the damn diem.
oh, and make sure to support yer local artists. love them and slobber upon them in any way you can, preferably publicly and on camera. ::smack::
her fave band. i turned her onto the cocteaus. i also provided her with an entire set of cocteaus cds, initially unbeknownst to me.
i would like to stress that she did not have a real sword, even though she wanted one.
an early still life, including one of her stuffed wild things, a dean koontz book and a videotape of tank girl.
always this bowie track. this is the one.
mood(s) for a day.
the dog blondie, in oil. (good morning maryann.)
sister and brother. all is peaceful in the world.
a portrait of her brother, in pencil. both of them in high school.
she was crazy about this song. she didn't get it from me. she got it from billy elliot. and she loved billy elliot.
this was supposed to be a pre-painting sketch, but she decided she wanted to stay with the sketch. pencil and pastel.
priorities.
the beezle painted this for les, so that les would be happified. the only beezle painting for a non-family member. (mornin les.)
the birthday poem she wrote for me.
impressionistic beezle.
radiohead wins the award for the band beezle and reap would rave about together, and at the same time, mwhaha.
have ya ever noticed that spawn are who they are riiiiiiight from the beginning?
in a high school art class, the teacher told them to take a famous work and riff on it. elizabeth decided to use escher's self portrait and since she had just read "the lottery" turn it into death, with the black spot. pencil. this won her the college scholarship.
i love the look on their faces. (of course i'm not biased. what.)
and now for my fave elizabethan pics. this one, at her studio on campus, rescuing the critter henceforth named "elizardbeth." (my framed version of this pic includes artwork from bryan on the side. ::smack:: )
my fave beezle-as-artist pic. this was not posed. my sister snapped it in a second as elizabeth was unloading her panels from the car at end of term. but this one second of a pic is... perfect.
all hail the waffle fry.
attila and i are about to have an elizabethan movie marathon whilst eating like pigdogs, so i will close here with my traditional closing... with the song that has been the soundtrack to the slideshow of my life. she loved it.
thank you all for indulging me, as ye do every year. remember what i said in my opening post. shine it out and love it forward. love truly is the only thing that matters. ::smack:

Re: elizabeth erin, the beezle
it is the day. i know ye have seen all the pics and heard all the clips by now. that, of course, will never stop me, mwhaha. as long as this board is still here and i'm still around, i will post a record of it here too, along with the facebook roll.
*******
the years spin ever faster, and the day comes round again. happy birthday to my beloved daughter, elizabeth erin the beezle, on this, what would've been her 34th birthday. tis the day to celebrate her life and her beezleness in all its elizabethan beauty, the day to be inspired by her.
my message is always the same, but it's an important one. the point is not reaching some far off finish line we imagine as the right number of years in the tally that equals a long life. it has nothing to do with quantity. the point is to realize that the blessing is having had these wonderful folk in our lives at all, for however long.
so go forth and let your loved ones know, right this very now, how much they mean to you. tell them. hug them. slobber upon them. call them. NOW. (go do it. i'll wait.) spread the love while you can. and relish every day you are able to do that.
and for those who've faced loss, which would be everybody: it's a matter of focus. listen to what yer loved ones who've passed would be telling you, how they would want you to live yer life. they loved you; you know what they would say. focus on hearing their voices, like chimes outside yer window. honor them and keep their spirit alive by following that music.
oh, and always support yer local artists. support them, buy them dinner, fondle them on hidden camera, blackmail them.
::smack::
her fave band. i still fondly remember the day my entire cocteau CD collection went missing/"borrowed"...
the beezle and her grandma. my ma was crazy for her grandspawn. they could've wiped out an entire town, and my ma would've been standing in front of them, holding a skillet ready for the swinging, yelling, "kathLEEN, they're just children!!"
and her fave bowie. mine as well.
the dog blondie. in oil.
hair, part I
hair, part II
hair, part III
she found this via billy elliot. and she loved billy elliot.
this was a sketch she did as a pre-painting and ended up just staying with the sketch. pastel and pencil.
beware the fortress guard. approach at yer own peril.
at my sister's wedding. the lad borrowed reap's tie.
the picture of her brother she drew for him.
she was all over everything about this.
ya knowww... sometimes there is no explanation. there is no reason. it just is what it is.
impressionistic beezle.
there were, of course, many points of musical convergence where the beezle, reap and i would be one in our fandom. this was one of them. (and happy birthday to joan, too.)
in an art class in high school, the teacher gave an assignment: take a famous work of art and riff on it. the beezle already loved escher, and she had just read shirley jackson's "the lottery." so his self-portrait became death, with the black spot. all pencil. this is what won her a college scholarship.
my fave christmas pic ever, taken by reap.
she loved all sorts of artistic styles. sunflowers for les. les was having a rough time, and the beezle wanted to happify her. the only painting she ever did for anyone outside of the family. (afternoon, les.)
and beezle at her more abstract.
her fave alice. and she loved a lot of alice. makes a ma proud.
her birthday poem to me.
the series of 3 of my fave all-time elizabethan pics coming. the first: at the studio on campus. her friend the lizard was thereafter known as elizardbeth.
the beezle and her art. this pic was not posed. my sister caught it in a flash, as the beezle was unloading her panels out of her car and into the house at the end of term. just in that one second, the perfect picture.
you knew this was coming.
all hail the waffle fry. let it be yer crown.
as is our custom, the grown male spawn and i will now indulge in our beezle-inspired moviethon whilst eating as much pizza as piggishly possible. i close with the track that represents the slideshow of my life. she loved it.
thanks as ever for indulging me, my fine folk. carpe the damn diem. love it out and shine it forward. you know it's right.

I happened to just have this song on my mind, and I don't know if either Beezle or dear kathLEEEEEEEN would go for it or how lyrically apt it actually is, but there are some resonances that struck me nonetheless.
