Good lord- how am I first??

Anyway - some bonus discs sent to me -thank you!!! Will listen on pending road trip!

The main deal though:

1. Sounds like some advert for something - unsure what - i think a spoof?
2. Dum Dum Dum! PEACHESSSSSSSSSSSSSS love it
3. Gosh, I like this - love the way it drops crazily in the first minute. Who hell is it though?

I must apologise for the shortness of my responses.My laptop is shit and dislikes playing a CD and allowing me to type at the same time and it makes mix club a grind at the moment. but I did really enjoy this disc and am so grateful for the bonus discs which are coming to come on a car journey. Now, to see if this laptop will burn my return disc!!

A well put together enjoyable mix has made its way to me.

1. Great start. Banjo, mandolin bluegrass goodness. The female vocal seems so familiar. Alison Kraus?
2. Southern country rock, love the bass. The rhythm section is the star here.
3. Power popish, reminiscent of the Raspberries. Another good one.
4. Unique voice here, all echoey/reverby with a touch of profanity. Not really connecting with this one but it's well done. Van Morrison enfluence is showing here.
5. Randy Newman? You don't here many juice harp solos. I like it.
6. Gentle loping female vocal, familiar sounding. I like this one a lot.
7. Country folk this time. Sounds like the McGarrigle sisters. Whoever it is this is a highlight. Love it.
8. Rockabilly! You can cut the reverb with a knife, always a good rockabilly touch. Love the guitar. Sounds like vintage 50s.
9. This one slinks along, high pitched vocal, kinda swampy. This one sounds vintage too.
10. Modern sounding singer/songwriter. This one kind of came and went each time.
11. Sounds like later period John Prine. The Dylan enfluence is shining through. Pretty good.
12. Singer/songwriter acoustic. Sounds British. Gentle delivery. I like the lyrics more than anything else.
13. Another highlight. Love this one and once again the voice sounds familiar. Good background choir.
14. Male/female duet. Not bad but it just didn't stick with me.
15. Great vocal with sparse accompanient. Interesting acoustic guitar, really sets a mood.
16. Whistling, hand claps (or board). Tasteful horns, the band is just really good. The vocal is ok but the musicians are the star here. I like it.

The Lovell Sisters. I love this stuff like Krauss and Rhonda Vincent and figured you would too

2. Southern country rock, love the bass. The rhythm section is the star here.

You'd no doubt be surprised if i told you this was essentially the same act as the the first track !! There were three Lovell sisters, and when one quit the remaining two sisters changed style and rebranded themselves as Larkin Poe

3. Power popish, reminiscent of the Raspberries. Another good one.

One of my favourite power pop bands The Nines. Love the McCartneysque feel

It is Van with Them. Al worth hearing not just Gloria and Here Comes The Night. Frightening to think he'd have been 19 maybe 20 at the time.

Great band The Bridge from the album National Bohemian. More than one band with this name so caution advised if investigating further.

Audra Mae who I knew nothong about but noted she appeared on the recent Costello/Bacharach expanded edition which suggested she was worth checking out

Michael Martin Murphey or just Michael Murpey when this was recorded.

The late Robert Gordon from the album with Springsteen's Fire. As you say all about the guitar here which is Link Wray

Thought you might know the song. Here done pop style by the Pearlfishers but a traditional folk song which also appeared on Pentangle's Cruel Sister album

12. Singer/songwriter acoustic. Sounds British. Gentle delivery. I like the lyrics more than anything else.

There is a strong traditional Candaian folk tradition mainly around Newfoundland/Nova Scotia. This is arguably its foremost exponent Stan Rogers

13. Another highlight. Love this one and once again the voice sounds familiar. Good background choir.

Criminally unkown Lori Burton. Just one album available whihcis a collection of singles B sides unreleased etc plus some tracks cut with group The Whyte Boots. Originally some success as songwriter and record producer

14. Male/female duet. Not bad but it just didn't stick with me.

The Wedding Present. Original jangle purveyors still going strong in 2023

Enjoyable mix from Mr Boom.....

1) I could be wrong but I thought I detected a NZ feel to the opening 5 tracks which made me wonder if I was in receipt of a famous Boom all kiwi mix. Obviously with what followed this proved not to be the case. In any case this is a really good start and I’m intrigued to find out who this is.
2) Continuing the same vibe, a bit more frantic but equally good.
3) Same again , a bit mellower
4) And again. I’m running out of things to say here but enjoying all of these so far
5) There may be some differences but you could tell me these are all from the same album and I doubt I’d bat an eyelid (I assume they aren’t) Really enjoyable run of tracks though.
6) Finally we get a mood change with some laid back female pop vocals. It occurred to me this could even be Alvvays and I did wonder if you considered putting Marry Me Archie on mix out of sheer devilment !
7) Very CSNY style vocals. This is great. Sounds a lot like Darlingside, a fairly obscure band I like a lot.
8) A real blast from the past. I assume this is Racing Cars who had the UK hit with this.
9) A long way from being my favourite Joni song but this is my favourite version of this above Joni and CSNY.
10) Don’t dislike this. The playing is fine and it is what it is 70s feel slightly proggy sounding blues rock mish mash
11) This is more an 80s vibe. Sure I’ve heard this before and feel I should know it. Moves effortlessly from disco to pop.

First up is actually Mr Joseph Henry "T Bone" Burnett III from the 1983 album Proof Through The Night and the Murder Weapon.
So not an all Kiwi mix but looking back on it the first five do come from a similar place, tho not intentionally and there is a couple of NZ tracks included

2) Continuing the same vibe, a bit more frantic but equally good.

...such as Track 2, Flying Nun stalwarts the Bats from Dunedin, NZ and The Black and the Blue from the 1991 album Fear of God

3) Same again , a bit mellower

Is actually New Yorks Rosewood Theives from their 2006 EP From the Decker House

Is actually Phil Spector last production job, the much maligned Starsailor and Silence is Easy

Sorry for the delay; things have been crazy around here.

1. Interesting song in 6/8 time sung by a person who sounds as if someone took a shrink ray to John Lydon and halved his size, and he is ranting about...everything?
2. Mid-tempo guitar pop-rock with a nice female vocal.
3. Edgy rock with a cool male vocal singing something like "this is Beetlejuice, this is the gospel truth." Well, that's what it sounds like.
4. This is a remix of "Rock the Casbah" that I've heard on some Clash compilation or other.
5. "Werewolves of London" type groove with light orchestral instrumentation. Bowie-esque vibe.
6. Moody alt rock track dominated by piano and atmostpheric synths. The vocalist sounds very familiar!
7. Jazzy minor key instrumental featuring electric guitar and some very flashy acoustic guitar.
8. Long ambient piece with some far East sounding instrumentation.
9. Seems to be an entirely vocal piece with multiple female voices singing over a repeated chant. Sounds like the sort of thing Zap Mama or Petra Haden would do.

Very nice, eclectic mix! I'm very interested in the reveal.
