I've got the third series of Mad Men and second series of Spiral on the go just now.

I've got the first series of Treme and a few episodes of Boardwalk Empire downloaded. I'll start watching them soon.

I like it. My husband's a big fan - he likes anything with action and spy stuff. It's done in kind of a fun, light vein, but has plenty of rough stuff. The characters are well-drawn, and I think it certainly keeps your attention. And it's got my boy Bruce.

We just started Parks and Recreation. I think it'll be fun; apparently it really gets going with Season 2.

Super Bowl 45. I wouldn't be watching it since I'm alone here, but the old guy next door invited himself over to watch it on the big screen. He should be here any minute.

Thats what I hear too, but my mates just rams it down my throat every time I come over. I'd like to have a chance to watch it in an atmosphere that isn't a 4 episode block while I'm half pissed.

I saw the first two episodes of Outcasts this week. I don't think it deserves some of the scathing reviews it's had. I shall definitely see it through.

I haven't read the reviews but there's too much wrong with Outcasts for it to be any more than another failed British attempt to keep up with the rising standard of US TV drama. Most of my complaints are of inconsistency: some very good special effects followed seconds later by horrendous artificial lens-flares and laughable costuming and props; a solid actor (Liam Cunningham) sharing the set with complete hams (Daniel Mays, Amy Manson) and scenes that demand a ridiculous level of suspension of disbelief. When alleged soldiers, or police or whatever they are, are ambushed on flat, open ground in plain daylight, while supposedly on alert for hostiles, it just takes the piss out of the viewer. There's always going to be an element of this sort of thing to drive plots forward in scifi shows but it was relentless in Outcasts. It's a plot written by idiots, for idiots. It beggars belief that no-one during the filming of these multiple farces held their hand up and asked questions of the director. "What is my motivation in this scene for handing over my gun to a mass murderer?" would be a start and "Can I get a new job?" a decent follow-up. The dialogue's clunky but I think better actors could have got away with it. Mays and Manson trying to act tough is pure comedy and it takes you out of the drama entirely.

Despite all this, the overall story arc is quite interesting and I'm still prepared to give it a chance. They're not afraid to kill off major characters so there's hope yet that Mays and Manson will get to overact one last death scene and then push off.

Surely a budget like this could have been better spent? The basic concept, with rigorous script editing and a competent director, could have been very good indeed but this is either a case of too many cooks or one very bad one.

She was having dinner at our local punk rock burrito joint the other week. I'm guessing she must be in town filming something.
