Daisy Jones and the Six

Postby Neige » 16 Mar 2023, 09:55

I've stumbled upon this yesterday by pure chance.

Image

Based on a bestselling novel inspired by Buckingham/Nicks era Fleetwood Mac, apparently, which I'd never knowingly heard of, and now a new 10-episode series on Amazon Prime.

I watched the first 20 minutes yesterday, was riveted, intend to binge-watch soon and sure hope it doesn't fall flat or morph into in a cliché-ridden mess.

Anyway, BCB should be all over this (in good or bad).

Think I've got it on my watchlist.

As a huge Fleetwood Mac fan Im not sure I can watch this - Ive avoided it so far but will probably give in at some stage, these things just tend to be terribly cheesy. Im approaching with severe caution :?

I think FM are basically the template (seventies, drugs, huge success, two chicks in the band and "changing love interests").
From the little I've seen and heard, it's done with taste and great sense of the period (sixties/seventies). And the (original!) music sounds terrific.

I suppose it got announced long beforehand, but I must have missed it. Now it was launched on March 3, there are 6 episodes streaming so far.

Saw the first episode last night and found it pretty entertaining, shall continue to watch it, despite some earlier reservations.

Well I must say I enjoyed this - despite some cringey rock cliche moments (the appearance of Punk rock for 5 seconds as "the future") on the whole it was very well done and the music really surprisingly very good, and very Fleetwood Maccy. Not sure what a second series would be about, but I'd certainly watch it.

Apparently there is no second series scheduled - shame I enjoyed it.

Mrs C loves Fleetwood Mac and raved about it.

I'll reluctantly give it a go....

I saw the first one - it sort-of washed over me. Rather predictable and drama free.
I will probably continue with it though if there's nowt else on.

I fell asleep during Episode 2

Now I'm watching Girls 5-Eva... it's less my kind of music, but definitely lots more fun! :P

I'm about halfway through it. The actress who plays Camilla is good. The show seems like one of those "Behind the Music" episodes on VH1. Fairly predictable and I don't expect anything shocking at any point. The original music through the early episodes was awful, though it does get better. The Daisy Jones character was kind of annoying with her "La la la, I don't need a record producer/recording contract, lol" thing. Also "Daisy Jones and the Six" is so not a 70's rock band name. Lightweight entertainment at best.
Where would rock 'n' roll be without feedback?
