Oh boy, just finished streaming Santana IV - Live At The House Of Blues, Las Vegas, 2 hrs 14 min. of pure joy and exaltation!
Carlos, Schon, Rolie, Carabello, Shrieve, and some current members. Five from the old line-up on stage for the first time since 1973, apparently. Though I wonder if they weren't all there in San Francisco for the 25th. Rolie, oh man, you really understand how crucial he was to the original sound and initial success. Special guest, Ronald Isley, for two encores. "This icon is more important to me than the Statue of Liberty", enthused Carlos, in his usual hyperbolic fashion.
The very last number, "Toussaint L'Ouverture" - powerful as always.
..and why not?
