They've put a few more teasers up on YouTube. I think it's gonna be good.

Re: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Up to episode 4. Not totally digging it. It takes me out of the story seeing Jason Alexander with such a major role because I can't separate him from his Seinfeld character. And then a gratuitous cameo by John Waters. And then Abe uncharacteristically sounded like a real creep.
Where would rock 'n' roll be without feedback?

Re: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
So I started watching Season 1 after discovering that I could do that for free on Amazon Prime.
Some thoughts, 4 episodes in:
- the care for late-fifties detail is stunning
- it is a joy, visually
- I really like the guy who plays Lenny Bruce
- the cameo by Wallace Shawn was excruciating, but fun
- Midge: the acting is excellent, she is funny... but also terribly shallow
- the other main characters (parents, Joel, Susie) seem clichéd and one-dimensional to the extreme.
Please, dear fans, do these things change? Should I persevere?
Convince me!

Re: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
It’s a couple of years since I watched Season One - I’ve just finished Season Four - but if you’re not hooked already maybe it’s not for you. I loved it from the start.

Yeah, just finished Season Four too, loved it. Fantastically filmed and always has a wonderful eye for period detail. Looking forward to the final season 5. Will we see Dylan at the Gaslight ? Will it end with Lenny's death in 66 ?
Also the Magician is pure gold!

Enjoyed 4.5 much better. Susie hiring a secretary was a riot.

Re: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
I'm curiously underwhelmed by season 4
I feel like the characters are becoming caricatures.
There is gold in the scripts of course, but they are struggling with situations

Enjoying Season 5 a lot, watched the first three, the updates at the start of each episode are a bit jarring at first, but it gives a good perspective of the whole story.

I admit I'm not enjoying these as much, so far - but I'm stuck in, obviously, it's not like I'm gonna stop watching now!

Re: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
The single element that irks me most with this show is the occasional (maybe more than occasional) verbal anachronism.
"I have a problem with closure." Who the fuck was talking about "closure" in 1961?
A famous comedienne/TV personality (Sophie Lennon) making a blatant double entendre joke ("Well, you know me, once I've got my legs up...") on national television... absolutely would not have happened back then, not unless it was a live broadcast and she didn't care about staying employed.

Fantastic episode 5 with Susie’s Roast, I thought it was the finale , it seemed to wrap things up so very interested to see what the next three episodes have in store. If they are all as good as episode 5 it will be some brilliant TV.
Strong echoes of Broadway Danny Rose.

Re: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Finally finished it. That was a loooooong four minutes. I thought the structure for the final season was interesting, though not too sure about where they took some of the characters. The ending seemed a bit rushed with too many things unresolved, but then I guess it always does for series you enjoy.

I still haven't watched the last episode! I have lately been thinking about doing so, though.
