"why don't you do something to HELP me?"
Out in four weeks.
What do you think - are they up to it?

The clip i saw of it last week looked OK but I can't help feeling that the truth is much stranger than the fiction presented.

Quite probably, yeah.
It's interesting that it's now NINETY YEARS since they produced their first 'talkie'. Which arguably makes L&H the oldest example of modern, popular art we have (not the right term exactly, but you know what I mean).

It's amazing.
I often wonder that for the time and with the little bit of technical material available, the actors had to be more versatile and brilliant just to get the impression out if their work that they were doing a good job.
Perhaps we have been so spoiled with talent that dulled our senses to it or the technical advancement putting actors in less strenuous circumstances not requiring them to go above and beyond any limitations imposed.
For me the caliber of acting Laurel and Hardy did was extraordinary and something you don't see anymore.

As far as comedy goes, yes, I think so. I'm not always sure what people mean when they talk about timing, but these two were masters. Phenomenal talents.

Mind, technological limitations weren't a barrier to other film makers of the time. What's that Marx Bros film where the tattooed animal comes to life?

Didn't Méliès produce similar wizardry in the 19th century?
I haven't got time now to go into it ,or look at the clip, but as I might have mentioned before, I considered Stan Laurel to be the greatest artist and performer of the 20th century, and have read at least four biographies of the pair, so might well have something to say later .

Well, let us know what you think about Coogan more than Stan!
