First of a two part BBC 2 documentary aired last night, following eight British Jews of different ages and with a broad range of opinions, beliefs and practices as they look at and discuss life in their community and share their personal experiences.
For example, there's Lilly, a 22-year-old Cambridge University graduate who has volunteered in Palestinian refugee camps, Alan, who is “77, secular, and fond of a bacon sandwich ” and Emma, a 20-year-old journalism student in Leeds — “the first Jew that many of my friends at university have met ” - who is a Reform Jew.
A highly absorbing and thought provoking programme with Part Two showing tonight at 9pm.
..and why not?
