"And they were Welsh! Why were they Welsh ?!"

Postby Samoan » 05 Jun 2018, 17:06

Anyone been watching the just completed three part drama-comedy-documentary A Very English Scandal on BBC 1 ?
There's already talk of a BAFTAs clean sweep.

I watched the first one last night and enjoyed it quite a lot. Not sure about Hugh Grant - I mean, he's alright in the part. Wishaw is better.

The Panorama doc that was aired a couple of nights ago was gripping.

Evil bastard, that Thorpe. I didn't know he only died four years ago.

Talk of a BBC show making a clean sweep of the BAFTAs on a BBC site?

Whatever next...

Oh, I thought Grant was cast to perfection.
Some excellent short parts by well known actors such as the "Lives with Badgers" Lord and Countess of Arran and his very moving speech about his late brother for whom the illegalisation of homosexuality proved effectively to be murder, in his eyes.

Surely you mean criminilisation here as a criminal offence carries far more of a stigma than one which is simply "illegal"?

Yes great stuff. I thought Grant was very good
But as said above some excellent vignettes - Michelle some mothers do ave em Dotrice, and the lad from the inbetweeners were both good.
I've been talking about writing a book - 25 years of TEFL - for a few years now. I've got it in me.

Why not write it then, what with you being a tiresome pedant and all when it comes to calling others out for
their minor mistakes?

Given your ignorance of the meaning of the word "private", I don't suppose anyone here would be
too surprised to learn that you don't know the difference between the two.

Just to clarify for you. While stupidity as severe as yours is sadly not illegal, your inane posts are a criminal
waste of everyone's time and bandwidth.

Watched the second one last night and enjoyed it much more than the first. Elements of outright comedy there, often at the least expected moments. You see 'BASED ON A TRUE STORY' in the opening credits, and I'm wondering how many liberties were taken...

I still feel Hugh Grant is just being Hugh Grant and the accolades are wrongly placed. He's good but everyone else is better.

Looking forward to watching the final instalment tonight.

That very last scene, as the final credits rolled - really sweet/funny

Yes, in the end credits they showed a short but pithy excerpt from the Youtube video you posted above.
