So...
Assuming Han is ten years older than Luke (respectively 30 and 20 in A New Hope) then Solo takes place approximately midway between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope - 10 years after the former and 10 years before the latter. So about 20 years after The Phantom Menace. Right?
So what the fuck has Darth Maul been doing for 20 years?
And didn't Obi Wan kill him when he chopped him in half?
Anyway, it's a great fun film.
Ron Howard has done a good job. It is very well cast and nicely paced.
Full of humour consistent with the character Harrison Ford created.
Woody Harrelson is aces in it
Doesn't stand up to too much analysis, but what kind of nob watches a Star Wars film to analyse it?

Yeah, it is a fun film, the action is very well paced and it loxks in nicely in the Disney-canon in the franchise. Good choice of actors with Harrelson being the best.... Obviously there are some leaps of faith being made but I'm willing to negate those (just like in The Last Jedi). The only issue I have with it in general is how dark so many of the action scenes have been shot.
I like the fact that the ending is open for a sequel and for some plot lines to develop. In some ways I look to this more forward than the final installment of the main trilogy.

Apparently Maul’s post-chop story has been addressed in animated spin-offs.

I really liked it. I've enjoyed the spin offs more than the actual saga movies which are think are just too weighed down by the whole history of the thing.
I thought the performances were mostly solid (wasn't so keen on the lass though) and the guy who played Solo managed to capture the characters irreverence and humour really well. Woody Harrelson is always good and Lando was great. The script could have been a bit stronger but I thought it was a rollocking yarn with some nice touches and references to the other movies. I know that sorta thing bothers some people but for me they nearly always work because they really hit my pleasure zones. When Solo took charge of the Falcon I had a Star Wars semi.
It was nice seeing Chewie kick arse as well. I'd happily watch a sequel, I think there's potential there.
