The very great Czech director. You've probably seen One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest - but his earlier films, especially The Firemen's Ball, are wonderful.

RIP.

I enjoy watching his film of Amadeus, but when I make my film version, it won't look like that.

I was startled to hear. I didn’t realize how fond I was of his films until I felt that jolt of sadness. What a great talent.

The Fireman's Ball is, indeed, great. Of his later Hollywood work I really enjoyed Man In The Moon.

RIP.

That is sad. RIP

I'm a fan of Valmont, the second of the movies made based on the novel Les Liaisons dangereuses. and by far and away the superior.

Annette Bening's Marquise de Merteuil and Colin Firth's Vicomte de Valmont make Glenn Close and John Malkovich's equivalent performances look like those of a pair of senior amateur dramatics company players hamming it up.

I'm just watching Hair.
It is testament to him that he has made an almost watchable film out of a terrible terrible show
