Nice to see something finally break BCB's Saturday evening silence!

I would have voted for True Detective too but although the first season was probably the best US TV I've seen in the last decade, the second was close to incomprehensible.

Nice to see Taxi there - I've fond memories of it (how could a show featuring DeVito, Christopher Lloyd and Andy Kaufman be anything less than hilarious?) but it didn't seem right to choose something so vaguely recollected. It'd be nice to see Mork and Mindy place in this poll too - however, the fact that Match of the Day and QI feature in this latest batch gives me very little hope for the remainder.

I was only 9 or 10 when Taxi aired but Andy Kaufman stuck in my mind immediately. Latka was such an irrepressible character with a stupid voice, he was hilarious.
Got the box set at Christmas, need to find time to watch it properly.

I don't apologize for voting for QI- it is one of the few series I can watch these days that amuse me and don't bore me. I find it hard to watch hour-long episodes of series nowadays and I rather have something interesting and/or funny than any of those crime dramas or over-CGId science fiction/horror series that dominate the landscape right now.

I'm glad QI made it. It's funny and it's interesting (quite). The anti-smart brigade may have worked me over in school, but it won't happen here

I should probably have voted for The Bridge, I forgot I watched that. I almost voted for QI myself, it used to be good when they didn't just have the same panel-whore comedians over and over again, and actually tried to be interesting. Not seen it in ages though. I also considered MOTD, but the programme itself (the bits which aren't football) is usually bobbins.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

I thought The Bridge was too improbable to be satisfying.
I did consider True Detective which I really enjoyed, it just fell short of greatness for me, but I can quite see why it was voted for.

I haven't seen The Bridge but I like the premise, so will try and seek it out.

I actually got into an argument with a tour guide who claimed the pink flamingos we were watching obtained their color because of the shrimp they were eating. I had seen the episode where that theory was debunked- they get the color through the blue algae they consume rather than shrimp. She refused to believe me....

As much as I loved the first series of Mork and Mindy it went downhill very quickly. And even the first series is really only worth watching for Robin Williams. The other characters are dreadful.

Hang on.... Exidor was a hoot! Even the feisty grandma had her moments. And even the voice of Orson had its part in offsetting Williams' malarkey against the banal and ordinary.
I will give you that the deli and Mearth were bad choices.

Two in the newest update, woo! Regarding True Detective, I've only really seen the first season so that's what I voted for. But I have heard the second one was pretty poor in comparison. Also at this point I'm really wondering if we'll see any anime in the list at all. That probably makes up a, uh, third of my list or so.

Doubt we will be seeing any One-Piece, Naruto, Lupin the Third or Dragon Ball Z showing up on this list...An animation poll might be in order...Several animated programs just missed my cut...

Taxi (USA, 1978-1983)
Voters: Davey the Fat Boy, Hightea, martha, never/ever
Just an all-around great show.

The Bridge (Sweden/Denmark, 2011-)
Voters: Fonz, K, the masked man, Neige
I liked this one, and knew it had some love here, so I considered including it, but decided against it because isn't even my favorite Swedish/Danish TV series. They have so many great programs (Rita, Borgen, the Killing, Klovn, Bonus Family). But yes, this was excellent.

Six Feet Under (USA, 2001-2005)
Voters: Davey the Fat Boy, driftin, Neige, Rayge
Sure. It was a good show. Not one of my favs but a good show.

QI (UK, 2003-)
Voters: driftin, never/ever, The Red Heifer, trans-chigley express
I do enjoy this, but it didn't make my top 30.

Match of the Day (UK, 1964-)
Voters: K, Penk, Toby, trans-chigley express
Whatever..

All in the Family (USA, 1971-1979)
Voters: Davey the Fat Boy, Hightea, never/ever, toomanyhatz
I know it was groundbreaking and all, but I find it unwatchable.

Cosmos (USA, 1980)
Voters: algroth, driftin, joels344, never/ever
Great call. Should have been on my list instead of Star Trek.

The Rockford Files (USA, 1974-1980)
Voters: Fonz, martha, Quaco, Rayge
I love this show.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (1979)
Voters: K, Kaspar, Ranking Ted, trans-chigley express
Another series that fell under the umbrella of Mystery! on PBS here.

True Detective (USA, 2014-)
Voters: algroth, driftin, joels344, Penk
Woody Harrelson and Matthew Mcwhasit!?! Bleurgh.....My God. No. Not for me.

The Bridge and Rockford (surprised both weren’t higher). TD1 was excellent, and I should have voted for it. MM was awesome in that one. I’m sure The Killing will place high. I hope Boren does too.

QI is a bit/incredibly smug (depending on the guests) but it’s entertaining. Can’t imagine placing it in my top thirty, though, it’s always just been something to watch if at home with nothing else to do.

It wasn’t terrible, just OK and nothing near the first. It was another where I decided to vote for it based on its best run rather than leave it off due to the weaker series.

Was it the first or second that starred Vince Vaughn?
