England Is Mine
Nothing spectacular, but very enjoyable.
Odd subject for a film, really - the life of a minor English pop star before he became famous...

I found myself laughing at the trailer rather than with it but the reviews I've read haven't been 100% critical so I might give it the benefit of doubt.

Seen it tonight and I really enjoyed it. I'll post a bit more later.

Re: England Is Mine
Neither did I!
I thought I was going to be a corny cheap biopic where you just end up laughing at the actors ("Is he supposed to be Johnny Marr?? Nothing like!")
and even though the lead didn't look much like Morrissey he certainly sounded just like him and was quite believable in his mannerisms.
There was a review somewhere that commented that the phrase "Grow a pair" wasn't in use in the North in the 70's and maybe it wasn't but that wasn't too troubling. The only anachronistic thing I noticed was that Linda Sterling was dressed a bit too early 80s for 1977.
In all, an engaging piece abut events that weren't (in truth) that interesting. ••• 3 / 5

Re: England Is Mine
Agree.
(altho' actually there were a few more anachronisms of speech that stood out - not a big problem tho')
