kickass entertainment!
So, was Daenerys attacking with one dragon a compromise to Jon Snow's advice? or is she taking the Queen of Thorn's advice to ignore the advice of men and contradicting him? I'm cool either way.

Yea that was a good'un. They've definitely improved the closeup dragon CG compared to the Colliseum scene last year. But its a bit dissatisfying (and un-GOT-like) that the dragon managed to burn around the key characters. Come on she should have been looking for Lannisters sitting on white horses and aimed the dragons mouth at them

I figured she was taking on the army in direct battle rather than going for the civilians. After all, they are in open war already.

I feared for Bronn near the end there. I'm assuming Jamie isn't a goner despite that final shot and the mournful credits music. If he was done for then why bother knocking him off the horse (was that Bronn or Dickon again?)?

Anyway, some quality fisticuffs there. All the more so because the outcome at this stage is far less predictable than it has been in previous big setpiece battles.

Away from the field of war, I enjoyed the Arya-Brienne scene. And I'm hoping Grey Worm cops it so that Davos can hook up with Missandei.

And how did Tyrion get there so fast. Did Dany give him a lift?

Do you suppose the Queen King-slayer was thinking to himself, "run a Targaryen monarch through the back, ho hum, done this before"?

I never saw 1 minute of GoT.

But it is highly entertaining to read the comments here, and to guess what has been blacked.
On the whole, I'd rather be in Wallenpaupack.

Well that was very enjoyable. I prefer episodes like 5 that develop the story rather than swash buckle, although you need both.
Why did Sam leave with only a few books/scrolls...I missed something there

Good episode. Pacy, setting things up for some more big action.

Gendry's return was less of s surprise than it should have been, as they stuck his bame in the opening credits. He was fun though.

Cersei's baby: she's faking it to keep Jamie onside, right?

Who's going to die north of the Wall? Not Jon, and I doubt they'd bring Gendry back just to bump him off straight away. Torbjorn needs to come back to get together with "the big woman". Ser Friendzone might go: a final sacrifice for his queen. Any of the Brotherhood feel expendable... maybe not the Hound. Might Edd show up?

What's Littlefinger up to now? Trying to turn Arya against Sansa so he can take Sansa's side?

So who's your favorite member of the GoT Fellowship of Manly Men? At least two of them can come back if things go south in a bad way...as the previews suggest they do.

It was a letter the Lannisters made Sansa write back in the day, asking Robb to bend the knee.

Yeah I thought the whole set-up of that battle happened way too quickly - it's like they gathered an enormous army over a couple of hours and attacked. And then popped back again to John Snow after tea. Obviously it's done for pacing but it was a bit too abrupt. I also agree that Jaime really should have gone - there should have been a long shot of Tyrion and Jaime looking at each other in the battlefield and then Jaime doing his thing - it would have been an apt end, and put all the focus back on an increasingly demented Cersei. But of course the revelation over who killed Joffrey - which was also delicious - meant that he really needed to live so it was no surprise to see him survive.

I'm really amazed at how good this series is. It's always been great, but to sustain this level of quality really is quite incredible.
