Re: BCB's Top 100 Films Poll (2017 edition) - ACCEPTING LISTS UNTIL APRIL 23RD!
I keep thinking I should take part, but I'm not sure I can think of 50 films I really love. I certainly wouldn't know director or year. I think I could pick 20 films, and pad the rest out with Friday 13th sequels.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

I thought this would be hard but in the end there were many "musts" that got shafted.
Where would rock 'n' roll be without feedback?

I've got a longlist of 60 or so and will also try to watch a couple of things I have never got round to but expect to like a lot*.
*Some David Spade and Jason Statham classics and The Angry Birds Movie basically.

There's a site that has helpful info such as this. Something of a database, I believe.

I struggled so badly I was seriously considering Beverley Hills Cop, until I remembered The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Re: BCB's Top 100 Films Poll (2017 edition) - ACCEPTING LISTS UNTIL APRIL 23RD!
I have no objections to Beverly Hills Cop. My parents had it on VHS when I was a kid and I must have watched it a couple dozen times. It's still a fun watch and it introduced me to the shady world of drug smuggling.
It was hard for me to make this list because there are quite a few films I love that I'm certain no one here has seen, so I had to balance things out a bit. One that I just re-watched on TCM (and that failed to make the list) is the utterly sublime The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds, an adaptation of Paul Zindel's play directed by Paul Newman, starring his wife Joanne Woodward & their daughter Nell Potts. It's the kind of film that is so amazingly human and real, that I wish I had the ability to write a coherent review, but unfortunately I am completely inept. Needless to say, I can't recommend it highly enough, though last I checked it had not been released on DVD.

It is exactly the sort of middle brow comedy film from the 80s that completely dominates my list; Uncle Buck is a prominent pick
Axel Foley is a very engaging character and the film only got bumped when I realized I had forgotten The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Looking at my list I mainly watched films on TV, Video and Cinema in the 80s and then got out of the habit bar blockbusters and the sort of thing they show on long haul plane journeys.
But I tried to stick to stuff that I had actually seen and enjoyed multiple times rather than things I has seen once and thought should be on this sort of list. That generally means comedies, I don't like realistic violence or films that induce extreme emotions other than gaiety.

I quite liked that film, it's been ages though since I watched.
It's on the U Tube -
Nonsense to the aggressiveness, I've seen more aggression on the my little pony message board......I mean I was told.

Uncle Buck ain't bad. Middle brow? Probably so, but I've always liked John Candy.

I do enjoy a good comedy. Are those being made anymore?

Looks like a good quality upload straight from Fox Movie Channel, which is where I first came across it.

I strongly advise a sign up list so you know who to harangue come deadline time.
The deadline is so far distant, I plan on working on mine over Easter weekend.
