You can but it's at the risk of downvoting every other film you vote for, and on top of that not really ensuring a top spot for that film. Points only count for tie-breakers after all, and what made Blade Runner get to first was the number of votes. Driftin was the one to give it a hundred points, and he did the same for Y tu mamá también which didn't even get on the list. :)

Also interesting to note that even without driftin's vote, Blade Runner would have still landed first, since it would still have 70 points, eight over The Godfather. I'm pretty sure, however, that what played against The Godfather was also that people probably downvoted it or left it out entirely under the assumption that it would do well anyways. Of course, it did, but one spot worse than most of us would have predicted... :D

So which version do you Blade Runner freaks prefer? I know I've seen the one with narration (which I found a bit annoying) and I'm pretty sure I've seen the Director's Cut. Are there even more versions available? It's kind of confusing to me.

I do think the score is superb. There are also different shots of the city throughout, and a certain bleak vibe that have stuck in my head, so that's something. I also like the automaton maker guy and Daryl Hannah looks really fucking cool. Mostly I just tend to be biased against sci-fi, so there's that, plus it feels like the kind of film that I really need to be in the proper mood to fully appreciate.

I am glad to see something other than The Godfather at the top of the list. And I know it's driftin's favorite film, so congrats to him.

I see I listed the original Blade Runner, but that was a mistake. The director's cut, without the clunky narration and that sappy tacked on ending, is much better

With the recent release of the sequel I've vaguely considered giving it another chance so maybe this will help get me over the edge or whatever. This list has also reminded me to watch more Tarkovsky.

I didn't save my list or I'd share it. If Al has it he's certainly free to post it, but I think I remember most of it. A couple big ones that didn't make it here were The Last Picture Show, and Hud.

Can't help but feel I skewed the results somewhat with my bullshit distribution of the points but I was well within the rules :D

I may dislike the board's general taste in music but I can definitely get behind its taste in films.

Thanks for the poll and your work Ale.

The Final Cut is kind of the definitive version. It's the director's cut of the director's cut with a few more edits here and there to clean up the odd little mistakes. There are others available but that one's the most well known version now.

Regardless of the version, I still would have counted them all as the same film. Same for making a difference between the theatrical and Redux cut for Apocalypse Now. I'm supposing that most who voted for Blade Runner would prefer the Director's Cut over the original too, though I could be wrong there.
