A few decades after the destruction of the Inca empire, a Spanish expedition leaves the mountains of Peru and goes down the Amazon river in search of gold and wealth. Soon, they come across great difficulties and Don Aguirres, a ruthless man who cares only about riches, becomes their leader. But will his quest lead them to "the golden city", or to certain destruction? --Chris Makrozahopoulos (IMDb.com)

It's weird how people get different things from different films. I must admit, I love this film, but I never saw it as an allegory for the Spanish ransacking of South America. Is Aguirres Nurse Ratchet or McMurphy?

 I'll edit it, thanks.

Hmmm, well, it's good to see one of the films I gave a 10 to finally make the list. I think 12 of my selections appear now.

There are a few films on here I wish I would have thrown a vote to: The Hustler being the most glaring omission on my list.

A couple selections seem pretty daft: Looking your way Dirty Harry.

Overall, a decent list for the amount of participants.

Hey, Al. I felt I needed to take a break from posting here due to a persistent desire to act dickish towards people (some deserving, some not). I don't need any unnecessary negativity in my life online or off so I'm going to try to be a bit more understanding of others. Not making any promises, though.

Looking forward to seeing the last batch of films posted.

I don't see how one wouldn't find Monty Python and the Holy Grail funny. Even if you're not laughing during some of those sketches , the lines are endlessly quotable. Virtually every scene is a classic in some form or another.

Hell, we even used to memorize their records.

Just posted the last remaining batch! #1 might be surprising to some (it was to me), and maybe a little controversial. I like the change-up though. Hope you guys enjoy.

Well, it's better than the Bowie album BCB chose as the #1 album of the 21st Century!

I wish I'd voted for Withnail & I - much more deserving of the top spot than Blade Runner, in my view.

It never crossed my mind that you could give like 100 votes or more to one film. Oh well...

I'm amused that this thread started in March.

The biggest question I have is which version won?

I've seen a couple, but not being a huge fan plus the fact that it's been a while since I've watched any of them makes it difficult for me to differentiate.

This might be a dumb question. I dunno...

I'm guessing that both versions were amalgamated as I'm sure some people wouldn't have specified which version.
Thanks Al, frustrating as this was at times it was worth the wait - very interesting. The biggest anomaly for me is the high placing of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly which isn't even Leone's best film. But I quite enjoy seeing quirks like that.

I re-watched Harold & Maude not too long ago and I was a bit bummed that I didn't add it to my list. Ruth Gordon is a fucking champ!

The lack of any Hal Ashby sucks in general, though. Being There is a very important film for me.

The absence of Chaplin also makes this list a bit absurd.

I'm not surprised. It's an unpleasant, unseemly film, to put it briefly and mildly.
But we can't all rate the same things or it would be a dull old world, eh.

Yup, the posters were a great addition. I guess I should thank Al as well, even though he's obviously a dirty cheat!

Seriously though, this was a fairly large undertaking for him to commit to and I do very much appreciate the effort.

I'm also very happy to see so much Kubrick - my favorite director.

Thanks guys, and sorry for the delay on many of the updates here. Between the move, the two months with no internet, and the many work complications as well as my general laziness a few times, this took much longer than expected. Glad for it to finally be done however, and glad you're enjoying the results and posters! :D
