I had plenty of time for The Level

and also for Paranoid, starring Lesley Sharp as the Quaker love goddess.

The People v. O. J. Simpson, Line Of Duty and Happy Valley were also good viewing.

Enjoyed parts of The Grand Tour too.

As for all the other (mainly US) TV, meh. I've started a few series but the idea that we're still in the Golden Age is preposterous. Much is decent-ish, sub-Dexter fare but far inferior to the Sopranos/Wire/Mad Men/Breaking Bad highwater mark. Nothing I've seen this year matches even Show Me A Hero from a couple of years back, ..Saul is deadly slow, taking a whole series to get through plot points a better show would've taken an episode or two to cover.

Put a record on.

Agree - to the word.

(actually I've only seen the first season of Saul - good in places but if the second season is as slow I won't bother)

It's, incredibly, even slower.

Pretty sure I would not be alone in arguing that GOT is right up there with The Sopranos and Breaking Bad when it comes to candidates for TV's Golden Age.

Even supposing the Golden Age has passed, I think TV is still enjoying a pretty decent Silver Age with excellent shows such as The Affair, Quarry and The Young Pope. Ultimately, even average, run-of-the-mill shows are vastly better than their mainstream equivalents from 10 or 20 years ago.

The big problem I have is that the arrival of non-traditional channels such as Netflix and Amazon, mean that there is now just too much pretty good TV to watch.
