Preposterous.

Rocky won three academy awards. Titanic won eleven and it's WAY worse.

There are other ways to measure success, of course, but it holds that many successful movies are terrible. Besides, Burgess Meredith *and* Burt Young? Come on!

Rockys great! maybe if it was made in the 90s it would be shit but thankfully it was made in the 70s.

What do we mean by successful? Popular? Then hell no, take a look at any given multiplex listing with the latest franchise guff. Award winning? Again, hell no. Driving Miss Daisy or Forrest Gump, anyone?

Nothing wrong with Rocky, and may I add that Rocky III is massively underrated, too.

I'd suggest Crash (not the Ballard one) as probably the worst film ever to win an award of any kind.

That article is utter guff. Rocky is a solid film and has proved itself to audiences of all generations.

I don't see Crash, Avatar, Driving Miss Daisy, A Beautiful Mind, or Chicago becoming as iconic as Rocky has in the same amount of time. Crash is especially putrid.

I was going to mention A Beautiful Mind alongside Crash, myself, but I find that I can't remember anything about it. I just remember my impression of it being something like "Jesus Christ, just fucking stop it."

I liked Cronenberg's Crash, the adaptation of J.G. Ballard's novel. That's awesome.
