Mel Brooks wanted to title the film Springtime For Hitler, but Embassy Pictures producer Joseph E. Levine would not let him.
...
In Sweden, however, the title literally translates as "Springtime For Hitler". As a result of its success, all but two of Mel Brooks' movies in Swedish have been given similar titles: "Springtime For Mother-In-Law" (The Twelve Chairs); "Springtime For The Sheriff" (Blazing Saddles); "Springtime For Frankenstein" (Young Frankenstein); "Springtime For The Silent Movies" (Silent Movie); "Springtime For The Lunatics" (High Anxiety); "Springtime For World History" (History of the World, Part I); "Springtime For Space" (Spaceballs); and "Springtime For The Slum" (Life Stinks).

Random movie stuff thread
I'm starting this thread because I don't know where else to put this (from Wiki's page on The Producers):

This is wonderful. Maybe they don't really know what Springtime is in Sweden.

Some of those sort of work, but Springtime For Space is surreal!

I only watched Lawrence of Arabia for the first time about 5 years ago. I spent half an hour watching the 2nd disc, before realising ... 'hang on, this isn't the 1st disc'.

I just watched a documentary on the director Budd Boetticher (whom I'd never heard of before today). One of the many talking heads in the doc was writer Robert Towne (Chinatown), who made me laugh with this shruggingly laconic comment about Boetticher being hailed in France as an auteur:
The French are nothing if not perverse about finding reasons to admire admirable people.

The Portuguese are good at “creative” film titles. They take liberties, in my opinion. Among the most annoying are “The World at his Feet” for Citizen Kane and “A Star Fell from Heaven” for It’s a Wonderful Life. Strangely, Elia Kazan’s titles are nearly always translated word for word. But everyone and everything else gets a good mauling. (But at least they subtitle, not dub.)
You can have fun unravelling these if you like:
“The Fourth Commandment” (Orson Welles)
“To Kill or Not to Kill” (Nicholas Ray)
“Forbidden Forest” (Nicholas Ray)
“The Woman Who Lived Twice” (Alfred Hitchcock)
“The Gentlemen of the Asphalt” (Martin Scorsese)
“Sin Lives Next Door” (Billy Wilder)
“The Twilight of the Gods” (Billy Wilder)
“Paid Twice” (Billy Wilder)
