13 isn't unlucky. Unless you're a pagan.

...Yep. :?

To be honest that would make fourteen as I'll also be adding my list at the time of compiling the results. But, yeah, it'd be nice to have at least ten more.

I'm going to do one but I was waiting until nearer the deadline, partly in case I see something really great in the next week or two, partly to make sure I don't forget anything. I'd imagine that you'll get plenty more the nearer we get to the deadline, but it might be useful to start or bump a thread or two advertising it elsewhere on the boards - that's what we've often done before with these polls, to make sure everyone knows about it.

I have my list ready but then I keep thinking of other films to add to it. I haven't forgotten.

Will do, later this week. :D

And so long as you don't miss the deadline, take all the time you need. I'm sure plenty are in the same situation (I kind of am myself).

So I could have given 201 points to any one film and 1 point to 49 others and likely picked THE top film :D

Wish I'd known that before.

I'm going to do it, but it's just very difficult to rank all those movies. There is a much greater chance that I will leave something out than I would with records. The universe of movies is just way more blown open in my mind. I can't keep it all in my mind at one time.

Had the same problem, recalling films I'd forgot after submitting my list.
Still doing the same with the 100 favorite songs list we did a while back.
"Ack! Forgot Season of the Witch by Donovan," I yelled out, driving to work a few weeks back.
Guess I could still modify my movie list. But I'm happy to leave it be. My top five or so faves are pretty much set in stone. Figure there's not much difference between my 50th favorite and my 51st or 52nd favorite though.
Might search the net for year-by-year or decade-by-decade lists of films to jog your memory.
Past that, just go with your gut.
I didn't try to rank them either. Just tossed them on the page as I thought of them. The list I sent in has my two favorite films listed around 12 and 13. Doesn't matter since I granted everything the same points.
So that may help. Don't over think it, just have fun. And, don't balk at listing Bikini Beach or Godzilla v Mothra over Annie Hall or somesuch if either are truly among your favorites.
Sweet potato ya got it, apple ya ain't.

The more the merrier though.
I already know what I like. Looking forward to seeing what others here list. So I can find new stuff to watch, go, "Oh yeah, forgot about that," get all indignant bent out of shape when someone lists a movie I hate and feel all overall smug and lofty over my superior choices. ;)

Well I've just sent mine.
Very difficult and also frustrating as I kept thinking of things I'd left out and feeling bad -rather like giving out presents at christmas to orphans, only to find you don't have enough presents! :)

I did it fairly quickly in the knowledge that the final result was always going to be slightly unsatisfactory. For those struggling to find a scoring system, I went:
top3 -20
Next 7- 10
11-50: 3

The breakdown by decades per film was:

30's - 1
40's- 6
50's- 8
60's-8
70's- 14
80's - 6
90's- 4
00's- 3

A very definite curve there!

I'm expecting quite a few lists to follow that curve. Mine will look somewhat similar, most likely with a stronger tendency towards the 60's and some more entries in the 00's (and even in the 2010's).

For me the breakdown by decades per film was:

70's- 2
80's - 5
90's- 27
00's- 15
10's- 1

I'm going to go one per director in order to provide a broader list. It will also make it easier on me.

This is what is holding me up. I have Several from Several directors, as if I own 3 box-sets or something, and haven't seen another movie in my life. But what can I do when a handful of people made ALL the good movies?
