And just about the Cup Final - did I hear that Rudiger got Man Of The Match?
I mean, which visually challenged fuckwit decided he had played better than César Azpilicueta?

If things don't improve markedly then I think they'll jettison him and get Simeone.
That will cheer Markus up.

Remember when he was young, and people were comparing him to Bobby Moore and Duncan Edwards? Could that have gone any worse. He runs as fast as he can into everything, 100% committed, 100% clueless. I'd be much more in favour of Smalling being in the England team, even if he's only teetering on the edge of competency.
*Edit: To be fair Rudiger was pretty good in the final, as was Kante yet again. I think you could've made a case for either of those alongside Azpilicueta.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

I think they all played well at the back for Chelsea but I thought Azpilicueta was by some distance the best player on the pitch. He is a personal favourite of mine though so I suppose I could have been biased.

Jose's World Cup comment :
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44879658
"hopes player 'understands why he was good'" re Pogba.
Is the answer because he wasn't playing for you, Jose?

And so it begins...
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44995530
Transfer list handed in months ago...players not being signed (remember that one?)
Referee was crap (again)
Players are unfit (again)
Players aren't available for selection (again)
He's defending the petulant Sanchez (again).....
It's going to be a long, miserable season at Old Trafford.

They could finish 6th this season.
Whoever the next manager is going to be (we will find out within 12 months for sure) will have a wonderful opportunity. A few simple changes like (the well used phrase) “taking the shackles off” and he could change the demeanour and style of the club within a heartbeat.
I might apply.

Mourinho's third season. On previous experience, that's when it usually goes properly tits up and he scarpers.

Re: The Manchester United Thread
And Pogba turns up the heat, very subtly..
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/45160562
"If you're not happy you cannot give your best" and that he
" would be fined if he spoke his true feelings."
I think there's a little power play going on here. Pogba obviously feels safe that he can say the above with impunity, probably thinking that he is more important (and more likely be around at the start of next season) than Mourinho is.
I'm sure there will be a response from Jose - there always is in these situations. So let's wait for the right question at a press conference this week....

Re: The Manchester United Thread
Man U were shite against Brighton - not one single player can sit at home tonight and "I've earnt my money" today. Not one.
But Eric Bailly - take a fucking bow. In all my seasons of watching defenders, that simply has to be the most inept performance by an international centre half in the English top flight. Fucking hell - talk about three left feet (none of which were any good) defending that a five year old would have disowned and tackling with the finesse of a new born giraffe. Stunning performance.
And Jose - you fucking signed him. And that equally useless cunt Lindelhof too.

I haven't seen Bailly play outside the Premier League, but Lindelöf has been excellent when I've seen him for Sweden, which suggests that when he's playing in a well-organised team with spirit, belief and tactical nous, he can thrive. Those things are quite evidently lacking at Manchester United right now.

That really was the intent of the post, Ed.
They haven;t become bad players - they're unable to perform with Mourinho as their boss. It's so obvious there is a power play going on there right now - with Pogba clearly leading the charge for change. His post match interview was really telling - when asked what Mourinho had said at half time he started to answer and then smiled coyly and said "I don't like answering - you'll need to ask him". Almost like he just remembered in time the 'agreed process' and stop himself ... and let Mourinho hang himself.

Re: The Manchester United Thread
Commercially they're an enormous success.
Sadly that leads to a short term-ism with managerial appointments. No one in their right mind believed Mourinho was the man to build for the future, give kids a chance, and buy for the better of the club long term. He's stayed exactly true to type - but hasn't yet got either of the two big trophies to justify that kind of footballing model. Unless he gets one of them this season, he's toast. If he's even given that long.
And then Man United start the painful rebuilding process again - for the fourth time in six years. It's not a nice thought if you support the club, is it?

Pochettino it is then. They will go all out to get him.
Whether he wants to go is another matter.

Re: The Manchester United Thread
Oh for sure. Whether United can get him is an entirely different matter. I imagine Pochettino will be tempted, but he could end up being a part of another drama or he could attempt to write himself into Tottenham's history books. Whether they have the resources to help him achieve that is difficult to say. He has achieved a great deal but the next step may be impossible to bridge. United have resources that Spurs can only dream of.
