Everton I presume? Bolassie went close in the first half with a good effort but apart from that he was pretty poor.

Another dreadfully dull performance.

The only fun part was Rooney throwing a strop at being substituted after approximately 55 minutes. For once I agree with Allardyce - Rooney had been a complete disaster from the first minute, and was lucky to have made the second half at all. And, oddly enough, we certainly did improve after his departure.

Is it confirmed there that Marcel Brands, the technical director of my club, PSV Eindhoven has signed on for the same position at Everton?
It's just been posted up on the PSV-site- allegedly he is keen to take one of our best players, Hirving 'Chucky' Lozano with him....

Rumours that Rooney is going to be playing in China next season.

Good.

Now that's what I call a deep-lying position. Hard to see him scoring too many goals from that far out, though.

Big Sam has shown he’s more of an entertainer than the fans think by picking two strikers at West Ham today.

He’s also picked five defenders and two midfield anchor men, and is still losing at half-time.

Everton fans are presumably hoping for a loss today if it makes his sacking more likely?

It's being reported over here he's going to play for DC United.

Of Silva, Fonseca and Howe (the three candidates when Allardyce departs, apparently) I'd take Howe all day long.

Allardyce gone. He'll be sorely missed.

I had a worrying thought earlier - how I said at the start of this season that Southampton (who sacked Puell having finished eigth last season) might live to regret that deecision- after all, what did they think was success for Southampton?

I rather hope I'm wrong and we're not in the same position next season. But..... I actually think Allrardyce has a right to be pissed off at being sacked. I'm glad he's gone, but I do wonder what the owners thought they were getting with him. He took us to safety much quicker than the other clubs in a similar situation when he took over. I'm sure many fans of other clubs will be looking at Everton and thinking the same of us as I did of Southampton last season.

I have to say I'm not impressed by the direction the club is taking. I hope there is a plan in place bur every move looks random at present.

If they get Silva, i'll be a bit more wary of the toffs than I have been in years. If they really back him in the market, even a bit more.

Well, Moyes is suddenly available again. Coincidence?

I'm 50/50 on Silva. He did a good job at Watford for a bit and nearly kept Hull up. In the Premier League there is little evidence that he can sustain anything over more than a season so far.

It is a bit of a gamble and I'd concur with DD that Allardyce probably has a right to be pissed off. I guess they might look at Burnley and think "well, look what they achieved", but he had a piss poor start by Koeman and some crap buys to contend with, he bought well in Tosun and whilst they were turned over rather badly by some clubs (inc West Ham who never beat Everton!), they finished respectably in the end. I'm not sure what the owners and fans were expecting to be honest.

I see that Brands has taken over as Director Of Football, and Walsh (who I think bears a heavy responsibility for the appalling transfer dealings last summer) is on his way. Along with all of Allardyce's backroom staff, bar Ferguson.

We are a club at the tipping point... we need a good managerial appointment that is going to be around for more than two seasons, and some canny transfer dealings to replace/upgrade an ageing/unable squad.

It's a critical time at Goodison this summer.

So Marco Silva it is then.

Whilst a lot more exciting than the previous appointment, I'm far from convinced he's done enough to warrant the job. However, I can see the attraction - young guy, charismatic etc.

We shall see.

A 22-0 win...

I'm wondering what exactly that taught the new manager yesterday?
