Famous players who most fans don't realise played for your club
I'm wondering if Sunderland have the highest number of these.
Ally McCoist
Chris Waddle
Shay Given
Steve Bould (?)
Thomas Helmer
Dwight Yorke
Colin Cooper
Andy Cole
James McFadden
Brian Deane
Dominic Matteo
Peter Beagrie
Tore Andre Flo
Sully Muntari
Probably a few others I've overlooked. Maybe Lescott and Pienaar in a few years too.

Wayne Bridge and Louis Saha, there's two more.
Emmanuel Eboue was on our books but managed to get a 12 month ban without playing for us.
El Hadji Diouf? The only thing he did while he was with us was threaten to stab Anton Ferdinand.

Not sure there's many from wigan. Victor Moses, possibly, and Kevin Kilbane.

And the Queen Mother, remember.
Tough tackling tenacious midfielder, only lasted until half time as fuelled by gin.

I remember both of them for Wigan (Moses especially as it's where he made his reputation), but I didn't know until today that Harry Maguire played for you.

There's a good chance I never saw him play, I'd forgotten about him myself. What a season that was, three different managers, one of them (Malky Mackay) hired under a shitstorm of media coverage about him being Alf Garnett, who he turned out to be less tactically gifted than, and finished second from bottom in the league. I can't recall a more depressing season, and that was even after we'd hired Owen Coyle.
If I did see him play, I can guarantee he wasn't putting in performances like he's showing for England right now.

And he had the attitude knocked out of him when Jack Charlton got hold of him. Unfortunately it came back when Jack left.

As I understand it, he played well in the limited time (1 European tie!) he got at Spurs but felt - and quite justifiably, in light of that Spurs team- that he ought to be getting more playing time. The manager (I think it was still Nicholson) didn't agree - and he was sold. I don;t see how that's besmirching a team really - he was an ambitious kid who felt he wasn't being appreciated enough.
He went to Boro and did get playing time - and hung around until Liverpool bid for him and Boro were (as I recall) more than happy to take the money for him.
He then went on to become one of the best midfield players in British football history. I'm guessing he thinks he won those particular arguments , don't you?

If we're stretching the point, I have seen both Kenny Dalglish and Diego Maradona play for Spurs at WHL in testimonials
