Boxers may prefer epithets such as 'Bonecrusher', but I approve of the floral elegance. More boxers should be noted for the choice of their buttonhole.

Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

If "Diesel, the Big Aristotle" is one singular nickname, then that's awesome. From now on, I want to be known as Zeke, Emperor of the Northern Lands.

Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors too. A local broadcaster has tried to push his nickname for Curry, the Human Torch, for years, but it's never stuck.
He and his fellow backcourt mate, Klay Thompson, are known as the Splash Brothers.

All true. Some weren't used that much by fans, but more in print and broadcast. The shorter ones like, Primetime for Deion Sanders, who's a retired player and broadcaster, are used today.
If, for example, they came on TV and said, "Next, we're interviewing Primetime," I'd know exactly who they were referring to.

Re: Best sports nicknames
That last post and sloop's about the commentator pushing his own nickname for a player remind me of the nutty Spanish commentator Andres Montes, who always used to refer to Xavi as "Humphrey Bogart" - even during games, which, given Xavi's tendency to dominate possession of the ball, meant that you'd hear him going "Humphrey Bogart Iniesta Humphrey Bogart Messi Pedro Humphrey Bogart Messi" about fifty times a game!
I think he thought they looked similar.
Maybe "Humphrey Bogart" is easier for a Spaniard to say than "Robert Downey Junior"?
