The Dodgers were the best team in baseball last year but they didn't win the World Series. This year I'm not even sure there were really the best team in the NL. And the AL is without question a much stronger league this year.

So hopefully it follows...

I fell asleep during the stretch last night - saving myself for the knockout game(s).

I see the Dodgers winning two of next three in LA. The Red Sox have to play JD Martinez and Mookie Betts in the field.

That was the most ridiculous baseball game ever.

That has to be the longest ever WS game, doesn't it? 18 innings!

Longest previous was 14. Also, longest by time- by over an hour!

I wish I'd seen it. I bet the atmosphere was something else - especially in the context of what a Red Sox win would have meant.

I'm glad I hit the hay after the 10th. There's no way I could have stayed up for 18 innings. Also glad L.A. won. Now it's a series.

TV ratings for World Series this year. I don't think going so late in the Fall does baseball any good. It's too far into football (pro and college) and basketball season starting off. They have to get it back to closer to end of season.

The fifth and deciding game of the World Series delivered big numbers for Fox Sunday, but the series as a whole was the least-watched in several years.

The Boston Red Sox's victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers recorded a 12.3 rating in metered-market households, easily the best of the series thus far. It was down slightly, however, from Game 5 in 2017 (12.8), as has been the case for the prior four games.

It's likely that the 2018 series, despite featuring teams from two top-10 media markets, will go down as the least-watched since at least 2015. Final ratings for Game 5 will be available late Monday or early Tuesday, at which point this post will be updated.

Seeing how things didn't exactly go the way I was hoping, I want to get some pleasure out of this thread before we move on to next year, so:

toomanyhatz wrote:My predictions, fwiw:

Dodgers over Braves in 3
Brewers over Rockies in 5

Astros over Indians in 4
Red Sox over Yankees in 5

Dodgers over Brewers in 7
Red Sox over Astros in 6

Red Sox over Dodgers in 6.

Hope I'm wrong about that last one.

Gloat, gloat, gloat.

Did not nail the number of games once, but I did nail every single outcome. You silly people didn't even try.

Giants announced the hiring of their new president. The Dodgers' current GM.

He started with the Oakland A's.

You're welcome to 'im.

Yeah, I heard he's MIT guy, although they said he's big on scouting. The Dodgers have been churning out good young players for a few years now, so what's your problem with him? They've also made good trades, like they did for Muncy, who was with the A's.
