The big question is - will these lads go onto the big time?
An overview of the winners since 2005 - Nigeria (3 times), Mexico and Switzerland. Rhian Brewster hit 8 in this tournament, but In 2001 the top scorer at this tournament was Florent Sinama-Pongolle, in 2005 Carlos Vela. Both came to the Premier League and never amounted to much.
It's a boost of confidence for the St George's Academy set up though.

Yeah, it means very little really. Like Toby says, the last handful of winners have hardly set the world on fire as adult pros.
The Swiss team of 2009 might be a good benchmark as they are all mid-20s now. Looking at their squad, the best-known is Granit Xhaka and there are a handful who are senior internationals (a few having chosen a different national side) and play for decent Bundesliga or Serie A sides, but just as many who now ply their trade in the Swiss lower leagues, and some who seem never to have made it at senior level at all.

In fairness there are some big noises being made about Phil Foden, Brewster and the lad who signed for Dortmund from City.

If a handful of these players become full internationals they will be doing very, very well.

I think at least 3 of them will. Southgate will want to fast-track them into the national side at the earliest opportunity.

Scotland were second in the under 16s world cup. They beat Portugal in the semi who had Figo and Xavier in their line up. Scotland lost on penalties in the final.
only two of the top of my head made a career in football, the highest one got was playing gor Celtic and Aberdeen and managed a handful of caps.
i doubt the English boys will be any different
