Reinventing The Game (English Style)

This is another team that has been credited as updating or changing the game in England. Maybe using the word "reinventing" in the title was a bit too strong. So far I remember watching a documentary about west ham on BT and how they went against the norm in the late 60's early 70's in their style of play. Liverpool in the past have been credited for changing the way the game is played in England.

So what teams/managers/players actually did change the face of English football in terms of style and tactics over the years?

The Scotland teams of the 1870s with their 'combination' play (lots of passing) made a huge contribution as did the purchasing of Scottish 'professors' to play professionally in England.
