Two separate occasions. But maybe not two separate......................

So Murali both times?

And that's the correct answer!

The guy was ridiculous.

I'll be back with a question a bit later. Let someone get the American football one first!

Penk is very close... but needs to look closely at the wording of the question.....he's half right....(but not the years).

Not surprised that I am wrong, but surprised that Penk is. Then again, I just re-read the question: 10 wickets or more in four or more tests, consecutively. That's the equivalent of taking eight five-fors on the trot as a minimum. At test level. I find it hard to believe anyone has done that. Obviously they have, but wow!

(But it's just ten wickets in a Test - not two "five for's" necessarily.....).

That'll be why I said "the equivalent of"...

Yes I know that..........

By the way - both were against Sri Lanka.

And only one other bowler has even completed a three-timer (that being Aussie Grimmett v SA in 36) once.

This might be an easier cricket one:

There are four currently active batsmen with a test average over 50 (min 20 innings). Name them.

And for a bonus, who recently retired from test cricket with a career average second only to Bradman?

Root, Smith, Kohli and Williamson.
I think the recently retired must be Sangakara as I can't think of anyone else recently with an average as high as his. I'm not sure though it's the 2nd best ever.

Ok, quite a lot of guesswork here, but Smith, Root, Younis Khan, Amla

Kaspar has 3/4. Nikki has 2/4 with the caveat that Younis averaged over 50 but retired in spring.

And yeah - Sangakkara had a great average but not the second best ever...

I thought he retired only from international cricket, which would make him still a "currently active batsman".

Also checked. Also dumbfounded. Let's face it, if he was that fucking good, he'd have played a few more than 20 tests.

Adam Voges

So Brendan, Adam Voges is the second best Aussie test batsman ever? Agreed?

EDIT: not to take anything away from the fella, but I think this stat really shows the benefit of playing not too many tests and having one mammoth not out score against a woeful West Indian attack. Wasn't he 36 or something when he made his debut?

He could have been better than Bradman but he retired too soon.
