Wimbledon Tennis 2017

Postby Samoan » 03 Jul 2017, 15:05

A few matches already played but light rain has now stopped play for the second time, where Murray was starting his title defence against unseeded 20 year old, big serving Alexander Bublik.
Andrew Castle, the commentator and former player described the groundsmen as they rush hell for leather to pull the covers over Centre Court as like "a herd of wildebeest galloping over the grass".

Nick Kyrgios is sadly already out after retiring from his first round match against Pierre-Hugues Herbert with a hip injury.

There's doesn't seem to be that much excitement around it this year.

Not here down under, I'm afraid....Tomic acting like a flog claiming he 'doesn't care' after he had his ass handed to him in the first round and Kyrgios retirement didn't help....
Can't see anyone outside of the Big Four taking it out unless Wawrinka can get his mojo back.

Maybe next week, eh.

Today was roasting hot, not a lick of wind and a plague of flying ants descended ..

Indeed. woke up the tournament for me. Glad Muller won, too.

Brilliant stuff from Jo Konta, and the stats show how she took the match to Halep - 40 + winners to Halep's 20-odd, and around forty unforced errors to Halep's 9.
