Well done to the Astros! I don't really have a favourite US team, but i'll always pretty much go for the underdog, and against the Yankees that was definitely Houston.

Morton and McCullers were fantastic on the mound I thought, really wearing the pressure of the occasion much better than the Yankees batters. Man, Altuve was clutch yesterday and tonight with a couple of key moments to inspire his team when they needed it most, and McCann as well.

Bring on the WS!

That game was FUCKING UNBELIEVABLE. I've been to an early 90s Phillies playoff game at the Vet, a 2005 NLCS game the Astros won, and the Spurs Memorial Day Miracle. I haven't seen a lot of big games, but I've been to a few. NOTHING compares to the unbelievable feeling at the ballgame last night. The noise was extraordinary and I only sat between innings. I don't know what the WS holds, but I've never been happier about my ballclub. It's a surreal feeling.

Yeah, it feels really good, thanks. The Astros with Berkman and Jeff Fucking Kent were never going to be my favorite team, but this may very well be (when you deduct the intangibles involved in a 12 year old and the 1986 team). I love these guys, top to bottom. I would've been happy if they had only recovered from the Bronx Collapse and performed with dignity and guts. But they went well beyond that.

You, Dave/Hatz and I all share Jeff Fucking Kent as part of our teams. I don't know if there's a more unlikable potential hall of famer.

He likes to call himself a straight shooter but lied about riding a dirt bike and told the Giants he injured himself washing his truck. He's a dick.

I'm rooting for the Astros, partly because I always liked 'em from the ol' NL West days and they're not the Dodgers, but both Baron and Hatz are dedicated fans and it's too bad someone has to lose this one.

Altuve has kind of a Steph Curry vibe around him. Great player but not physically intimidating like Aaron Judge or Yasiel Puig, for example.

And he doesn't flip his bat at singles like the clown, Puig.

Hey, I don't say bad things about your Giants! I hope for the best for them. Just too bad the best for them might be winning 75 games next year. :P

And notice how well Puig is playing, and also how well his teammates are getting along? What if Puig is actually a likable guy just having fun (he doesn't seem to mind at all when opponents respond similarly to his antics) and the actual clubhouse cancer was Grienke?

Hmmmm.....

That's why they sent him to the minors last year. Because he was so much fun to be around in the dugout.

No, they sent him to the minors because he wasn't performing. But nice try.

As they say, million dollar talent, ten cent head.

We have this buyer in our cube farm who is an obnoxious Dodger fan. He does take a lot of crap because he lives in Giants territory, but he doesn't help himself.

On Friday, he came in crowing and management had to tell him to calm down.

The only redeeming features about the Dodgers are that Joc Pederson and Brandon Morrow are Bay Area boys.

Joc Pederson from Palo Alto and Morrow from Rohnert Park, up north near Napa.

Morrow's great - Joc not so much. On his way to Oakland in exchange for some young pitching soon...

Boy, he started out so great. I guess getting Granderson kinda sealed his doom for the short term.

Well that’s game 1 down and I suppose it went basically as everyone expected. Everyone says the Dodgers are the better club (due primarily to the bullpen difference) and everyone favors them to win. I can’t argue with that and I won’t. What I will say is Houston CAN beat anybody and they could even do it four out of seven games. Its not necessarily a good bet here, but it isn’t totally out of the question.

I’m disappointed that George Springer still looks lost at the plate, and disappointed that they stranded the runners they did, but that’s baseball. I want Houston to win, of course, and I want them to shell Yu Darvish.

Good game and bonus that it went fast - 2 hours and 28 minutes.

Dodgers fans must be jacked. They actually mostly stayed past the 7th inning.

glad you went! as I said "keep your head high". Not surprised they took the two at home and eliminated the Yankees. I'm happy with the Yankees season (although you never know if they can get back to this stage) and wish the Astros well against the hated Dodgers.

Dodgers won 103 games and Astros 101. Two game difference. Yeah, the Dodgers bullpen is historically great, but the Astros are a good hitting club.

Verlander against Rich Hill. Ya gotta like Verlander. And I like Hill - liked him when the A's had him. He's a wiley junkballer, which is typically an American League type of pitcher.
