Los Angeles Dodgers: $248,321,662 ($2.4 million per win)
New York Yankees: $221,574,999 ($2.4 million per win)
Boston Red Sox: $198,328,678 ($2.1 million per win)
Detroit Tigers: $192,307,500 ($3 million per win)
San Francisco Giants: $166,744,443 ($2.6 million per win)

...So the Giants ain't exactly spendthrifts either. Only difference is they get less for their money.

Plus, some BIG money comes off the books for the Dodgers next year. Think that's going to hurt them?

yeah that includes A rods $25 M, fox sports should be paying the yankees for how bad he is in post game.

A young boy in Santa Rosa is a diehard A's fan and wrote this letter to the A's after his family's house burned down. The A's President, Dave Kaval, happened to catch the reporter's tweet and report and has put his feelers out to help the boy. I can imagine myself writing a letter like this myself. In fact, I did write letters like this to my sports heroes.

Here's the story. . .

Loren’s letter, written in pencil on lined stationery, with bold strokes and descriptive flair, was picked up and tweeted out Saturday by Katie Utehs of ABC7. It caught the attention of A’s President Dave Kaval, who had spent much of the week responding to fans reaching out to him via social media, describing their own travails with the calamitous fires. Kaval promised to outfit the Smith family with new A’s gear, and from there a country’s kindness went viral.

“That just set off a whole kind of domino effect with other people responding,” Kaval said in a phone interview Tuesday. “It really shows the power of sports.”

Offers of help and goods came from all around the baseball landscape — from the Tampa Bay Rays, the New York Mets, the Detroit Tigers, the Colorado Rockies, the Houston Astros, the San Diego Padres, the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Seattle Mariners. From MLB’s Players Alumni Association came a tweeted photo of gifts on their way to Loren, signed baseballs and pictures and, especially cool, a Steven Vogt bobblehead.

Sports memorabilia company Topps put together a snazzy package of stuff for Loren to help rebuild his collection. Retired pitcher Dan Haren, who played for the A's from 2005-2007, put together a box of goodies. “People are driving to the Coliseum and dropping off old baseball cards, their Jose Canseco jerseys, so many great things,” Kaval said. “We’ve become a clearinghouse for people who just want to do a nice thing for Loren. He’s just a boy who loves a sport, and something about that really resonates.”

saw this very sweet. I was a fan of the yankees and NY Giants (American Football) but never would have written this type of letter.

I'm still stunned the Yankees are killing it and I watched them all year they had moments but never thought this.
Go Yankees.

Exactly. I've been watching the Astros all year and they've been crushing everything, wantonly and relentlessly. They've had slumps but there's never been a time when everyone cratered (Yuli, excepted) at the same time! I, too, am stunned.

The Astros need a Bucky Dent, Michael Taylor or Cody Ross, like the Giants had. Someone to spark 'em and wake them up.

All kidding aside, this is one of the best team ever with the Dodgers. Where do they get these guys? Last night some guy named Martinez, Michael Taylor, and Bellinger comes up for A-Gon and lights the league up. Dave Roberts is a really good manager and lots better than Mattingly. Funny, a Red Sox hero should replace a Yankee great.

Even though he had a 6-3 postseason record besides the Cardinals, Kershaw needed to win this one or the Cubs would've felt like they were in it. Good teams step on the neck and that's what the Dodgers did.

ESPN especially is already putting the Yankees in the series, but having had my team down in past series, I wouldn't place my bets just yet. I like the Astros character. They're too good, to me, to give it a shot.

ESPN F*cking idiots, I'll never count a team out especially after 2004:
October 16, 2004 New York Yankees – 19, Boston Red Sox – 8 (game 3 ) Yankees up 3-0
Red Sox win next 4. :(

I don't count Houston out - A good game from Verlander and anything can happen in game 7.

I've said it elsewhere, but I was convinced that if Houston could get someone in the bottom half of their order to get a nice, big hit, everyone else would loosen up and start getting better swings. McCann did it in the 5th, and the hits and runs followed. WHEN the Astros are swinging the bat, most pitchers don't particularly scare me. The trouble is, of course, that, assuming they are back into the groove, AJ Hinch is still gonna have to do a patchwork pitching thing tomorrow (unless Morton gives them a good six or seven innings, which he could). I'm going, so light a candle for my heart and nervous system.

I'm at home, with the game lined up on the TV. I don't know any of the rules. I may need help from y'all to know when to cheer.
