Still Baron wrote:What a shitshow that ballgame was yesterday! Morton throws pretty well but the Yanks get a bunch of niggling hits and two of the most chickenshit home runs I’ve ever seen (we won’t comment on Will Harris’s inexplicable decision to shake off Gattis and throw Judge some grade A cheese, up and in ... or, for that matter, the fleet footed Maybin’s decision to give up on an eminently playable pop up). And CC Sabathia didn’t seem remotely unhittable. And yet, a big W for the Yankees. The good news is that Morton and McHugh looked good and the rotation and bullpen have been the major liabilities.

Hey ho, that’s baseball, I suppose.

Here’s hoping Hinch gets something good out of the extremely flaky McCullers this evening, and that the offensive juggernaut gets going ...

Huh? CC outpitched Morton and shut down the only two hitters Houston has(Correa and Altuve). Where were these great Houston hitters?
Thankful people will now shut up about Judge (both hitting and fielding). I've watched Judge all year he loves to lull teams into the thought that he strikes out but you miss your spot and its gone. He has done it all year. Jerseyboy Frazer is surprising me this post season another clutch hit last nite.

Starting to get sick of the Altuve praise. Yes he should win the MVP over Judge but last nite the runner was safe at first(BS overturn) and Altuve bobbled another ball he is great but not perfect like the broadcasters think.

All this being said I still see the Astros winning this series mostly because of there two aces. The Yankees have good starting pitching and a great bullpen but their starting pitchers do give up a run or two and the two aces for Houston can shut teams out, even the Yankees lineup.

Expect some runs from both teams today. Go Yankees

really compared to Correa's 2nd game fan induced homer? Pretty lame too no?

What yesterday proved to me is what kind of bandboxes new Yankee Stadium is an Minute Maid field.

That Todd Frazier wrist twitch homer was ridiculous. Gimme a break.

SAdly, I can’t respond until after the game is underway. Funny how two people can see two different games based on their ballclub loyalty. Anyway, no way to sugarcoat it, 8-1 is 8-1.

Wow this series is epic! Was Judge's home run far enough this time. Okay 2-2 now bring on the Astros 2 aces we are ready.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers are just not looking the slightest bit beatable.

Obviously, Houston’s weaknesses were all exposed yesterday. Which is to say, the bullpen. Alas! It isn’t so much of a problem when the offense is explosive and scoring 10 runs, but apart from the 3 and 4 hitters, the offense has gone to sleep. It’s particularly galling as they wasted an improbably good start from McCullers, from whom I tend to expect the worst. As I have said, I have a ticket for Game 7, but I really don’t want to use it.

Weren't the Royals unbeaten going into the World Series with the Giants?

If the Dodgers and the Yankees both reach the World Series, it will be the battle of the largest payrolls.

You too can win if you want to pay through the ass for it.

I don't know how anyone else was on here as a baseball fan at nine years old, but I loved sports with an awakening of all the possibilities and history with the sports I loved. Kinda like music turned out to be, in fact.

A young boy in Santa Rosa is a diehard A's fan and wrote this letter to the A's after his family's house burned down. The A's President, Dave Kaval, happened to catch the reporter's tweet and report and has put his feelers out to help the boy. I can imagine myself writing a letter like this myself. In fact, I did write letters like this to my sports heroes.

Image

Here's the story. . .

Loren’s letter, written in pencil on lined stationery, with bold strokes and descriptive flair, was picked up and tweeted out Saturday by Katie Utehs of ABC7. It caught the attention of A’s President Dave Kaval, who had spent much of the week responding to fans reaching out to him via social media, describing their own travails with the calamitous fires. Kaval promised to outfit the Smith family with new A’s gear, and from there a country’s kindness went viral.

“That just set off a whole kind of domino effect with other people responding,” Kaval said in a phone interview Tuesday. “It really shows the power of sports.”

Offers of help and goods came from all around the baseball landscape — from the Tampa Bay Rays, the New York Mets, the Detroit Tigers, the Colorado Rockies, the Houston Astros, the San Diego Padres, the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Seattle Mariners. From MLB’s Players Alumni Association came a tweeted photo of gifts on their way to Loren, signed baseballs and pictures and, especially cool, a Steven Vogt bobblehead.

Sports memorabilia company Topps put together a snazzy package of stuff for Loren to help rebuild his collection. Retired pitcher Dan Haren, who played for the A's from 2005-2007, put together a box of goodies. “People are driving to the Coliseum and dropping off old baseball cards, their Jose Canseco jerseys, so many great things,” Kaval said. “We’ve become a clearinghouse for people who just want to do a nice thing for Loren. He’s just a boy who loves a sport, and something about that really resonates.”

Never.

I'll die before giving credit to the Dodgers.

Here's Dave's mistake. He uses his own frame of reference as a nice guy when judging my irrational hatred of the Dodgers beyond a friendly rivalry. He doesn't mind the Giants, heck, he kinda even likes 'em and will concede something if it could mean loss of a friendship.

Not me.

Suit yourself, John - you end up looking very foolish when you don't face the facts - this team is here on grit and sweat and money WELL-spent, not just spent. Hope you enjoyed your every-other-year domination, 'cause it ain't coming back for a while. The NL's going to be all Dodgers and Cubs for the next several years.

Below is the estimated total 2016 payroll for every MLB team (courtesy of Spotrac):

Los Angeles Dodgers: $248,321,662 ($2.4 million per win)
New York Yankees: $221,574,999 ($2.4 million per win)
Boston Red Sox: $198,328,678 ($2.1 million per win)
Detroit Tigers: $192,307,500 ($3 million per win)
San Francisco Giants: $166,744,443 ($2.6 million per win)

...So the Giants ain't exactly spendthrifts either. Only difference is they get less for their money.

Plus, some BIG money comes off the books for the Dodgers next year. Think that's going to hurt them?

They're not the fucking Dodgers, which is what I think they should change their name to.

Better yet, Motherfuckin' Dodgers suck up male prostitute semen on the floor after goats have shit on it and walked all around bleeding out of their asses because of parasites.

Maybe too long to get on the front of a jersey though.

One year you're winning and you're all cocky.

Amnesia from choking after the last three.

I'm not saying you're wrong, if that makes you feel better.

Nothing can make me feel better than your continued wrongness is doing.

Likewise the Giants get lucky a couple times and you act your kings of the world, at least in even-numbered years.

Didn't play in '16 and it ain't gonna play in '18. Like I said - hope you enjoyed it. It's your last celebration for a while.

Guess you gotta turn to those other, inferior sports in order to have any civic pride. I feel for you.
