No apparently about it. The first contact was well outside the box, but Griezmann made bloody sure he got in the box before he fell over.
We're usually skipping around the function room in our long-johns by now...

Hopefully the ref will be a bit stronger in the 2nd game. Really want Leicester to win.

I don't. They're not really very good. It was fun last year but their approach has started to feel stale and cynical. They were dismal on Wednesday evening and very fortunate that it was only 1-0.

And any team that relies so heavily on Jamie "Tom Daley" Vardy can't really complain about the opposition benefitting from refereeing decisions.

The "romance" of the champions league is dead.

It's been dead for years. And sod Leicester, Monaco are a very entertaining and exciting side full of unknown youngsters, who have already dumped out Man City and look set to do the same to Dortmund.

Shame that fucking Real Madrid are going to win it again of course.

With just a little bit of help from the officials, it seems.

If it stayed at 2-2, perhaps. The Ronaldo-equalizer was offside but no denying the other goals.
Vidal was living dangerously and should have been pulled off the pitch to save Bayern going down to ten men. Some responsibility goes to the coach there to leave him on.

... none of which has anything to do with him getting sent off for a perfectly fair challenge.

There were several other contentious decisions that went in Real's favour too.

True- the sending off was bullshit but Vidal was not likely to go sit on his heels after he received a yellow. He already was sailing close to the wind earlier. Considering Casemiro was getting away with murder, Ancelotti may have expected a similar treatment for Vidal but I agreed with the commentary at the time that it would have been prudent to safeguard him from falling foul of a weak referee.

I don't know if the "romance" of the Champion's League is dead. Yes, the best sides are consistently in the semi-finals, but they are all teams of some magnitude with fantastic players and there have been some amazing games over the last few years. Perhaps the chances of a Leicester or similar side winning it are incredibly slim, but as a showcase for the world's best footballers, it is remarkable entertainment.

They did themselves proud I thought. When, apparently, one of the best managers in the world plays 11 men behind the ball against you, you have to take a little heart in that.

To me the romance died after Ajax last reached the final

It was and of course it broke up so quickly.

It was in the late 90s that I started to really lose interest in the game.

Surely everyone wants Monaco to win? They're so kamikaze you just have to love it.

So it turns out the Dortmund bomber wanted to affect their share price.

How totally bizarre.
